Re: Who will win the most races post summer break?

I’ve gone bold and gone with Leclerc. - Ferrari did seem to have some issues with porpoising, not sure if it was both cars but I recall seeing Sainz bouncing. Thus, the ride height measures will I think be more disadvantageous to Red Bull than to Ferrari. - I think Leclerc walks if they don’t up the...

The stewards themselves conceded that Grosjean’s penalty was so harsh because he took out the title contenders. Hamilton vs Verstappen Silverstone 2021 was a unique case where a harsher...

Re: The best title fight of all time in terms of driver quality

2007 Hamilton vs Alonso? Or does one of them have to have won the title to count? I suggest it over 2021 as I think Hamilton and Alonso in terms of talent are a fairly even match, but I don’t think Max could have almost won in his first season even if he had a top car at the time. As a relatively ne...

Re: The Effect of 2021 on Max Verstappen's Legacy

I don’t think “human error” has done Max any favours either. Maybe there would have been “human error” in Masi thinking he had the authority to do what he did in order to avoid a safety car ending to the race, but the fact that Wheatley became involved and changed the course of the safety car withdr...

I’m not really sure how it all works but if Alpine turn out to have a contract with Piastri, couldn’t McLaren then elect to contract him from the date that he becomes a free agent? Piastri sees out his Alpine deal and the McLaren seat is available should Ricciardo still wish to race for them after a...

Re: The Effect of 2021 on Max Verstappen's Legacy

In my view, the effect of 2021 on Max’s legacy largely depends on what others do next. It would have been less of an issue that Hamilton lost a title in this fashion had it been just a title from somebody with multiple others. But it wasn’t just a title, it was the record breaking title. This might ...

Hungary was the first time I’d had doubts about Russell - previously I’d rated him higher than Leclerc. Re: Silly Season 2023

On the WTF1 podcast, the point was made that there were 4 teams with vacant seats - Alpha Tauri, Haas, Alfa Romeo and Williams - so perhaps in a Chinese whispers type way, it had been misconstrued into meaning that they were all interested in signing Ricciardo. I can’t remember the exact wording tha...

Re: Alonso joins Aston Martin for 2023 [merged]

I feel Alpine boxed themselves in with that Ocon contract, an Alonso Piastri combo would surely be the best bet over the next 2 years for Alpine (neither Merc or Ferrari care about having a German or Italian, I don't buy they need a French guy thing) and I think Alonso would've stayed put if both d...

I voted for Charles and Ferrari. It's a shame if the title is decided before Abu Dhabi. DNF in Spain where he was cruising, DNF in Baku and he had track position at worst he would end P2 behind Max. Some how Ferrari made him loose in Monaco and Silverstone. Stupid crash in France at worst P2 and he...

I’m going with Spa. He’s finished third 3 times, second twice and Spa is the next race 😂 I thought that France, Silverstone and Hungary were their best chances so Spa’s as good as any. With an 80 point lead and Zandvoort being more his home race than Spa, Verstappen might even do an ‘I pass or we cr...

I have been thinking he would be leaving Alpine since Monaco, but when I mentioned his name in the Aston Martin thread, I did think Alonso made more sense for Aston Martin than Aston Martin made for Alonso. I found myself wondering if Hamilton should have pitted later for his first stop, stretched the second mediums out and done an Albon i.e. pit stop on last lap (or perhaps in this case VSC) or not at all (would he have got away with not using 2 compounds since it had started raining before the finish?

This is the second race this year to make me angry about Abu Dhabi all over again. My initial thought was Alonso. Stroll Sr presumably hired a multiple WDC in order that Lance might beat him and look good, so why not replace him with another. I did find it odd that it was George and not Lewis that took the gamble on slicks - I thought Lewis would be the more likely of the two to keep it on the road, given his greater experience. To be fair after the seasons he’s had McLaren had almost zero reason to believe Daniel when he said he had more pace - and they won’t until (hopefully) he finds a way to turn the corner.
