Re: 1st Cancelled event? Japan bracing for 105mph Typhoon
What a pathetic cluster chocolate fudge cake of a shambles. Far too wet- by f1's recent standards to actually race.i predict a safety car procession, for at least 70% of any laps completed. Unless there is a miraculous break in the typhoon. Two thumbs down.

Re: Formula E vs Formula 1
I was quite supposed at how slow the cars were. Is it right that there is a 150kw max power limit? I saw speeds up to 150ish, but the acceleration was quite slow. Seemed good for 0-80kph, but slower than a fast family car after that. A bmw 335i would be quicker, I think. I'm sure the corner speeds a...

Re: Daniel Ricciardo - Any weaknesses?
Bourbon, how do you see that seb had no power on Sunday? He only struggled in sector2- consistently, in the race. Often was faster in s1, and all but even in s3- the two power sectors, whereas s2 is the downfiece/handling sector. I'd summise that seb didn't have a nice car underneath him, rather tha...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - German Grand Prix
Getting OT, but peak value isn't a good reference for realistic top speeds. Drafting a faster car with a lucky wind direction will flatter. I think Ferrari and red bull are similar in open air, with merc a noticeable jump higher.

Re: Did Vettel (inadvertently) push Ricciardo off track?
Agreed.
Also, I don't think anything sinister of it. Just seemed bad timing and judgement. Why could he not have waited until the field had passed, before taking off. Didn't make much difference anyway. Dan only seemed to be a 6-9th place finisher that race.

Just enforce the bloody track limit rule always. No discretion, except for being pushed by another car. Every driver, at nearly every track, runs inside/outside these very obvious markings.

Add each drivers best sectors and dan ric is fastest. Definite possibility that it's fuel-level affected, but I'm happy with it.

Re: Vettel vs Ricciardo Breakdown Comparison
I'd be surprised if dan is faster than seb in quali and race trim this year. As an overall result I mean. But I think his raw pace is probably similar though. Faster than Marks, and he already seems to have a mature mindset about the task of tackling the whole race. Mark sometimes seemed to have bra...

Massa killed his tyres in each stint. Dan seemed very good in this respect. In the first stint, with seb on the harder tyres, dan was faster at the end of the stint.

Re: Vettel vs Ricciardo Breakdown Comparison
Drs came back, power loss seems iffy. I think seb was just noticing the merc vs Renault effect. On the paid timing app his trap speeds (one per sector, not all were max speeds) were the same/higher than dans, lap-on-lap.

I'm very much NOT a maldo fan, but it didn't seem he did anything stupid. He headed for and hit the apex, without sliding wide afterwards. Guti seemed to turn in a bit too much from his initial, wider entry(allowing for maldo?) and their tyres touched and launched him.

What about massa v grosjean in Hungary this year. Massa ran the full width of the track and as grosjean had nowhere to go-on the outside. He went wide and completed the pass. Grosjean was penalised.

Who remembers the turkey incident where vettel attempted the pass and caused both to leave the track. I think that, along with wing-gate made it easier for mark to make his choices in silv2011 and braz2012. They mightn't be correct choices, but I can see why they might be made. Combined with 2010s a...

Likely it's down to who can find the most money. If you can get a sponsor who fits within the corporateimage of the team, eeven better. Sometimes teams have been known to see if drivers are am nearly as fast as their poorer contemporaries. This method has been shown to promote talent though, and is ...

i think of the graph as a individual time trial scenario. the laps 1 though 70 dictating the total amount of 'personal best' laps being considered. if the 'run' was 8, 9, or 10 laps long, massa would have won(ie- his 10 best laps were cumulatively faster than anyone elses 10 best laps). 7laps or les...

the issue is that senna moved left in his braking zone, where michael was shaping to go along side senna on the left. michael had to move right as senna had closed the space on the left, and the incident happened.

senna was on a line, started braking on that line, and then veered left as schu was gaining under brakes, so schu had to veer right. that was dodgy of senna, due to the not changing line under brake rule/understanding.
