Vettel is some 7-8 kmph slower in the speed trap compared to Alonso, Rosberg and Massa. The Force India's are the quickest in the speed traps. Re: HAM: The best driver has got the quickest car at the mom
I don't think Vettel actually locked up (or did I not look good enough?), which was why he ran wide. Maybe locking up and turning in sooner could have been better, I don't know. As I said (and was explained on BBC), his approach to the corner was compromised through the overtaking of the Caterham a...

Re: Merc and others got there way tyres changed for barcelon
Pirelli's heavily degrading 2013 product is dominating the sport at present, to the point that - according to Mark Webber - it is "a bit WWF". That is a reference to the American 'fake' professional wrestling federation, with that sport taking a back seat to choreography and elaborate plots. No. WW...

Re: Where are all the critics now???
I don't think anybody given that there are such stable regulations could have expected McLaren to blow this years car in such a big way. Yup. They had the fastest package at the end of last year. I don't know why they felt the need to totally overhaul it. Lotus didnt really change much on theirs, t...

Re: Is Rosberg already number 2?
Way too early in the season..... Nico has showed already he's got the pace of Lewis. I think it's hard to tell if Nico can match Lewis's best pace or not. During all the races so far this year guys are running at controlled paces and they are trying to achieve a specific lap time to save tires, fue...

Re: Is Rosberg already number 2?
whatever the case merc's problem lies with not being able to make their tires last. I believe the Mercs were the fastest cars this weekend, but they could not save their tires at all. I know Lewis says that it's not the problem, but when you look at the lap times for both drivers it's obvious they w...

Re: 2013 Chinese Grand Prix Race Thread
Great race. I thought Button did an amazing job doing 2 stops. If they can get him some race pace he will do some major damage this season because it's going to come down to tire preservation. Alonso is good at it and so is Kimi. Lewis and Vettel in my opinion have the fastest one lap pace at the mo...

Re: Could starting on Primes be the best bet?
I don't think that strategy will work. You want to get the soft tire stint out of the way as soon as possible. That tire just sucks for any extended run. Even with a low fueled car, like in Sutil in Australia, on a much cooler track, the soft tire has proven not to last. Unless Vettel can build a 35...

Re: Chinese GP Quali Thread
Starting on the primes might be a good choice. Get relatively clean air at the start of the race while everyone else dives into the pits, and hopefully the track will rubber in, so the softs may last a bit longer at the end of the race. With the difference in lap times between the tires that could ...

Re: Dominant drivers or just lucky?
To me Vettel's greatness cannot be questioned. Not only is he a triple world champion, but he won when he was in a Torro Rosso, he builds 20sec+ gaps between his closest competitors repeatedly, he outperforms Mark Weber, which is by no means a slouch, by a wide margin. I mean, if he was not good, ho...

Does anybody have a record of lap times from Nico and Lewis up to until those team orders were given? I think a lot of people are lying to be honest. Re: Rosberg was not low on fuel
Meh. Rosberg could have had the balls to do what Vettel did and go for it but like a good little puppy a la Barrichello he stayed behind. That's why he'll never win a WDC. Agreed. If it was Lewis, Alonso, Kimi or Vettel in that situation they would for sure have disobeyed team orders to pass. I am ...

Re: Lewis is Mercedes team leader
I'm disgusted by the comments defending Brawn's decision. It was Hamilton who burned up the fuel. Rosberg would have driven differently had he known the team would reward going too fast in the early part of the race. I hope Mercerdes can soon demonstrate that they aren't favoring their more famous ...

Re: Lewis is Mercedes team leader
My theory is that Rosberg was just simply too fast for Lewis all weekend. So in the race Lewis had to run a rich fuel mixture too often just to keep Rosberg behind him. When Rosberg overtook him twice and lewis counterattacked he really must have used up most of his fuel to complete the race. Ross b...

Re: Your surprise(s) of the Australian GP weekend?
I was surprised by how Kimi devoured Hamilton on the supersoft tires and how the ferraris and Vettel also did the same to him on the mediums. Maybe that Q3 lap time was all Lewis, and the car's race pace was better represented by Rosberg's hot lap was in Q3. Or maybe Hamilton was running a conservat...

Button: now in a team where he has established himself, well liked, trusted and known. given that Mclaren are always there or there abouts he has an excellent chance with his toughest competitor (teammate) out of the way. i don't think Perez is as class as Lewis which gives Jenson a better chance o...

I am a Hamilton fan but I think I'd have to say the best 3 drivers are 1. Vettel 2. Alonso 3. Hamilton Vettel is a 3 times world champion. I have to account for that. People give him no credit whatsoever and disrespecting him whenever possible, but yet he continues to deliver. If it was just the car...

Re: Mclaren struggles from Lewis shodow
I think they should have waited for a better option than perez. I realize that they wanted a clear number 2, but guys like Grosjean or Hulkenberg sound like better choices to me than Perez. But who knows, maybe one of the reasons Hamilton left is that they were courting Perez right under his nose. T...

Re: How does Rosberg cope with the Hamilton hype?
Rosberg will have to show me a lot. I am not saying that he's a slouch, but if he can beat or even match LH's performance, who IMO is the fastest man in F1, that will bode very well for him.
Unlike some, yes, I would be very surprised if he does outperform Lewis.
