Re: Is most of the top talent tied up in Mercedes and Red Bu
Newey's been the top guy for more than 2 decades, if my math is correct. He was a top designer when he was 20 years younger than he is today. But I can't think of another name today who's that age and is anywhere near as good as him. People are underestimating just how much of an impact Paddy Lowe ...

Hamilton's tyres were sub optimal by the time he really pushed. All of Hamilton's laps prior to his hot lap were banker laps where he was merely pacing himself. Does Ricciardo not have one set of softs available? Could he not use that as his prime stint tyre to cover off the Mercedes guys, or has he already used that set in practice?

Hamilton was 0.151 s slower than Rosberg in his final attempt in Q3, both on US tyres and the same track conditions. He was unlucky to not get a banker in but ultimately he simply wasn't fast enough. No one was going to beat Danny Ric today.

Ricciardo didn't get a clean lap in at the end, Hamilton got traffic in S3 on his fastest attempt, and Rosberg made mistakes on his fastest lap. Pole fight will be between Mercedes and Red Bull, but Ferrari (in Vettel's hands) looked much better today than on Thursday.

Verstappen lost big points as well Sainz lost more. He had a total of 7 retirements, including two from a potential 4th and 5th place in Russia and Hungary. Carlos won the qualifying battle 10-9, although Max beat him 5-4 in a two car finish. They were very evenly matched overall in 2015, with a sl...

Although a 7 race win steak is pretty impressive, it’s frustrating because it easily could have been 10 or so. His car failed when leading in Sochi, safety cars and gusts of wind in Austin, and now this engine mode problem in Barcelona when he’d just done Lewis around the outside of Turn 1. But what...

However I think Verstappen holds a lot more potential than Sainz. Last year Verstappen was in his second single seater season and he's quite a bit younger. And he was already noticeably better. Sainz gave Kvyat a Ricciardo-level tonking today, no less than 32 seconds between them. Granted Kvyat has just switched teams, but so did Verstappen and he matched Ricciardo on pace in his first weekend. Today Sainz finished what, 32 seconds ahead of Kvyat? That was a proper tonking, in both qualifying and the race. Re: How many races will Nico win consecutively?
According to Toto Wolff on Sky, Nico had an ERS deployment failure/problem coming out of Turn 3 so he was essentially 180 horsepower down. Without this, Lewis would never have even got close to him at the scene of the accident.
Directly or indirectly, Nico lost this race because of unreliabilty.

He is usually very fast in wet qualifying sessions, as we saw at Malaysia 2010, Belgium 2013, Brazil 2013, Belgium 2014, Britain 2014, and USA 2015.
Wet races in general are uncommon these days. His best wet race is probably China 2010.

Nico doesn't lose out to "what ifs", the "what ifs" nearly got him a title in 2014. I keep seeing this comparison in this thread, but Max to Red Bull is nothing like Fisi to Ferrari is 2009. Verstappen is 18 right now. There's a difference between a Hattrick and Grand Chemel. The former is pole, win, and fastest lap. The latter is pole, win, fastest lap, and lead every lap of the race. Rosberg took pole, lead every lap of the race, and won in Monaco 2013, Monaco 2014, and Germany 2014. He missed the Grand Chemel o...
