Erm, how does Max get away with that.
Everyone backed off and Max comes steaming through with Bottas sat in the barriers.
I thought after Nico did a similar thing you had to visibly slow down under double yellows?

Re: 2019 Japanese Grand Prix Race Thread
Mercedes turned a certain 1-2 into a 1-3. I'd love to hear the reasoning.
Even if they did want to give the race to Bottas, they surely didn't have to chuck 2nd place in the toilet in doing so.

Re: How fast is Verstappen relative to Hamilton? (THREAD SPL
This conversation reminds me of 2007/2008 when discussing Hamilton versus Alonso. Just as it was obvious back then that Hamilton was going to be a top drawer driver back then, it is obvious that Max is going to be a top drawer driver as well. But just as it was ridiculous to say that Hamilton was t...

Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
Not really, all the cars run at the same pace so being on badly worn tyres isn't a problem, also there is no need to refuel anymore. I missed the V part of VSC. Not sure it would have made a difference to Hamilton and Bottas even if it had have been a VSC today. As for the Pit lane being closed und...

OK so they still aren't even lined up and the car has been cleared. So why on earth was it not dealt with under the VSC! Why not just leave the car there in the first place? It's not in a dangerous place; the only thing that makes its place dangerous is retrieving it. Since there's no reason for do...

Re: 2019 British Grand Prix Race Thread
I'd be interested to know how Bottas ended up on an inferior tyre strategy to Hamilton. Did he request the early stop? Did Hamilton refuse an early stop and then request the hard tyres? Either way that was the deciding factor today, not the Safety Car. Because Seb was also capable of a 1 stop they ...

It's pretty relevant TBH. If you add a little nuance and take out first and last season the cross team mate comparison is generally a good predictor. Obviously not fool proof though. But it's all based on the Button/Perez season being seen as equal. 1/ they only had one season together 2/ They were...

7-6 to Perez but with Button having a better average of 0.06s, I tip you just took 5 minutes to get all that off a website that just throws everything into the mix whereas I discount wet sessions and were drivers had to be in the same sessions when they set their times, so basically I throw out all...

How fast is Verstappen relative to Hamilton? The way things are going there is obviously no reason to replace Bottas.
If your primary objective is to see Hamilton beaten more frequently then I'd say Max is the only man for the job on the grid currently.

Back to the race. Just watched the race again. Honestly, what was the Ferrari plan to get Vettel past Verstappen. It was a tantrum, similar to ones we've seen before from Vettel and Max. I found the swapping numbers thing childish and disrespectful. My opinion on the penalty? For me it's entirely based on what Seb did as he rejoined the track. If he floored the gas and caused the back end to snap out he deserves the penalty. If he was coasting back and it snapped on him I'd suggest that the penalty was harsh, as in my opinion he was doing every...
