Re: Bottas Hamilton Accident - Who was at fault?
... I wasn't suggesting he (Bottas) was going too fast, more that he shares the idea that the Merc's were slow through the first turn. Makes sense in my opinion. Rosberg would want to keep it slow into the apex to maximise exit speed and if Hamilton's own momentum were to be compromised as a result...

Twenty tears ago we would have laughed at the notion of the US moving towards greener technology. China is lagging behind and it is a massive producer of electricity so the stats will not look good. But I do not buy into that forecast charted above.

In a wider context there is a global push to reduce carbon emissions. This is relevant not only to the automotive manufacturers but also to the grid suppliers / electricity generators. The argument that more coal will be used to generate extra electricity for the infrastructure to support electric ...

F1 is supposedly viewed as the pinnacle of motor racing and at the forefront of technology. In more recent years it has made a point of using technology that would be relevant to road vehicles. To this end, hybridisation of the power units is the relevant path and reverting to NA engines would be vi...

The gap was there and, from the overheads, it simply looked like two cars aiming for the same piece of tarmac. In other words, racing incident. Bottas' on-board does show him having to correct into the corner and that may well have been a contributory factor in the collision. Whether that's simple o...

1986 is one that springs to mind for me. Senna, Piquet, Mansell, Prost. Both Williams drivers taking points from each other in a superior car, leaving Prost ever in contention to pounce in that final race where Mansell had a blowout and Piquet was called in to change tyres as a precaution.

Well, I feel that if 2016 elimination qualifying is mentioned, 2005 aggregate time qualifying should get a mention too. It's difficult to prove / disprove either argument. That fact that what it actually meant is largely incidental to the actual fallout from it does not dismiss it from debate. I say this as someone who was immediately - and instinctively - sceptical about Fiki's case. I won't say that I have been won...

As a few posters mention - it's a sign of an evolving world. I recall having a TV we used to have to tune to change channel - and there were a choice of three. F1 was available then. Re: Return to Proper Qualifying
In essence, it's less about the quali format itself but more about the gap between teams.
If you really want to be outlandish, scrap qualifying altogether and invest in circuits that have a start / finish straight wide enough to accommodate up to 26 cars side-by-side. That would be fun.

The reason to why F1 has been so dreadful in the past 3 years is precisely because one team has been dominant. F1 has been this way since 2009, not only the past 3 years. In 2010 and 2012 when a RB a...
