Re: Passing so infrequent nobody knows what's fair?
Every driver in Formula One has many years of experience in passing, from their days in lower formula. So they have the experience. But now they are in a weird car with little visibility, specific behaviors, and up against all quality drivers. IMO the biggest difference is they have grown rusty. If ...

Re: Le Mans 2019
F1 MERCENARY I agree on the lack of quality control for the Aston Martin road cars. But even for their racing cars, they are prepared by Prodrive and the engine is from Mercedes. But they are not alone, many manufacturers farm out the racing preparation to subcontractors.

Once again, the greatest race of the year has come and gone. It was glorious, although I am definitely still woozy from watching so much of this wonderful race. As a huge fan of the Dane Train, I am severely disappointed they got hammered with a BOP (balance of performance) change less than 24 hours...

Re: 2019 Canadian Grand Prix Race Thread
IMO Vettel did direct his car to the right when he rejoined. He threw a block on Hamilton. He could have kept hard left, but that would have really slowed him down and allowed Hamilton an easy pass. I am not condoning Vettel's action during or after the race, he acted like a jerk. But we need to und...

Article 46.1 of the Sporting Regulations requires that drivers who finish 1, 2, 3 MUST attend the podium ceremony. If Vettel had "boycotted", he would have been in VERY serious trouble. So what if he acted like a spoiled brat, as long as I don't have to change his diaper, it's not my problem. Person...

Re: 2019 Canadian Grand Prix Race Thread
Personally, my opinion is that both Vettel and Hamilton are dicks (but great wheelmen). I am not a fan of either. I have seen worse infractions blatantly ignored by the stewards. The sport either enforces every rule to the letter (no matter whom) or just let the racers race. Too many rules, too much...

How about adding the voting option that the stewards are horribly inconsistent? I have seen worse infractions ignored. I also place Mario on the top pedestal. I first met Mario in 1974, while I was messing around with a F5000 team at Mosport. it was an exceptionally busy weekend, with both F5000 and Can-Am running back-to-back. On Saturday morning I had a few spare moments, and decided to sit on the pit wall ( a per...

Formula One has never stood still, it is constantly...

However you cut it, as impressive as his F1 debut appears, his post-WDC record doesn't paint him in a great light. And in the context of this thread a top Champ driver appeared to be a mid-grid F1 driver. It is a shame you did so much good work. I say that because there were two distinct Jacques Vi...

Bottas and Perez. Bottas was under pressure every lap, yet he drove a darn good race. He beat his team mate in every category (so just why in heck did someone vote for Hamilton?). I would!!! I believe a top Indy Car driver would indeed make a solid F1 driver. The F1 elitism in this forum irritated the heck out of me. What is the proper etiquette? 1) I will go as slow as I choose and possibly impede another driver because this is the best way to manage my tires. The main question, what skills and attributes are required for either series? Basically, in Formula One a driver needs to be adept at go...

But then again, the trend may relegate him out of racing just because in five years there may be another new fast kid. And sadly, it may come down to salary demands. The only thing that gets in the way of a Formula One driver having a driving coach is ego. It makes sense of anyone, no matter what level, to have an outside expert opinion. In Formula One, 1% of a performance margin is huge, it can cause any driver to be replaced. So having more information, expert...
