So I guess we have our answer if Haas offered the test or not. Shame
This video[1] claims it was because Haas didn't have a spare engine and gearbox for the old car to run the test.

I think so too. This being a nice feel-good PR opportunity probably allowed Wolff to be confident about the offer, but I don't think it was the primary reason for it.

I understand that the organizers want more action on fridays so that more people will buy full-weekend tickets and more snacks and whatnot. I get that part. But a sprint race does not make sense to me at any level. However, I put my vote down as reserving judgement. Lets try it just to make sure it'...

I imagine the main implications are going to be on suspension design, the sidewall does a lot of the dampening over bumps and stuff right now, wouldn't want to be going over sausage kerbs with those tyres and rock hard suspension. Wonder how it will affect the suspension. Some rubber flexing is a l...

I don't think this is what F1 needs. But on the other hand, if they're going to introduce it, I'm really for doing it this way with only 3 weekends the first year.

Limits the potential damage, while it should provide enough data to make an informed decision.

While I agree that the helmets are one of the few personality traits the drivers can show, I get so confused by them. When I look at a driver, I almost always have to look up to check the yellow "second car" marker to figure out who I'm looking at. I've been thinking maybe the drivers could get some...

Is there really any point in deleting lap times for track limits in free practice? I can see two uses, for drivers to practice track limits and for the stewards to practice enforcing track limits. Bottas is not a slouch most of the time, so it seems logical that he'd be ahead in both. But yeah I'll be looking forward to see how the weekend unfolds.

If Russel clearly beats him on merit in either quali or the race, then that must surely destroy Bottas.

It's still a sizable advantage as you can put ballast where you want, get the car corner weighted and balanced, move ballast about to suit. Only way I see Bottas winning the WDC is for Hamilton to have an exceptionally poor year w.r.t. external issues (mechanical issues, getting taken out by others etc). Bottas is within reach over a single lap, similar to Rossberg, but on a normal race day Hamilon is simply better.
