Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2019 Monaco Grand Prix
Hamilton wining about tyres when his car was superb and we know that he'd have had to make a major mistake to be overtaken - a joke - just did what was needed and seriously not driver of the day others who did well because of pitstops - also questionable. Max CLEARLY unsafe release and then ALSO hit...

Jezza - as a former athletics person (state/national/international rep) - I do think that AFL (and eventually the AFLW) at the highest level is arguably equal or more than the decathlon/penthathlon And boring? For those of us who don't really care about US basketball - why don't you talk about the most athletically required sport- Australian Rules Football - which is also played in the US and many other countries - and has the highest skills of any of soccer / rugby / NFL etc - runs more, needs to have be...

Re: Planet F1 Driver Ratings 2019
There are so many ratings this season that seem ridiculous - it's only been a few races and reliability or luck haven't been regarded Mind you - the 'official' F1 site said that Hulkenburg was a top 5 driver for China - despite not qualifying ahead of his team mate, being behind his team mate etc - ...

Re: 2019 Chinese Grand Prix Race Thread
Fuel and tyre life corrected he should have been 0.4s faster than Vettel when he set that lap, going by Vettel's time. The problem is that LeClerk had some sort of gear selection issues for a number of laps which cost him time and performance - although this did seem to resolve - based on team radi...

sky isn't in Australia - we had until this year only 'Foxtel' which charged a substantial monthly charge and a connection charge meaning races cost about $100 each (bit less when they removed all but the Australian GP from normal TV except a 35-40 min highlight a day later (including qualifying) - o...

Re: Qualy outlap etiquette
If the drivers are going too slow and ensuring that those behind can't start their lap in time - then the drivers have EVERY right to pass and get on with it - Max was slow - then slowed even more after Vettel passed - meaning the Renault drivers had no choice - Max was too slow - and I've seen Max ...

Re: Best F1 driver ever?
There have been drivers who have been lucky to win races or even a WDC - but the reality is the 'best ever' needs to have performed at the highest level for a long time - faced challenges and overcome them - I think won in other than the dominant car (even if winning WDC requires at least a close to...

I also remember Ferrari in 1999 favouring Schumacher over Irvine - costing Irvine a number of points - ultimately that cost Irvine and Ferrari the WDC (leaving aside the botched pitstop that also cost EI the WDC - ok and leaving aside the illegal Ferrari that got off on a technicality (causing a cha...

Kvyat ran into the side of Sainz I thought? I thought it was Norris. If not then it was Norris and Kvyat who touched first. One of the McLarens, anyway I think Kvyat's snap oversteer put his left rear into Sainz's front right, which then snapped Kvyat back the other way and hit Norris's right rear ...

still too early to say IMO - LeClerk should have won Bahrain - and was impeded by decisions in Melbourne and certainly lost at least 4th if not 3rd in China due to Ferrari favouring Seb and poor strategising (if they'd pitted LeC. the lap after Vettel, he at worst would have been right behind Versta...

Re: Max Verstappen: youngest driver on pole in F1 history?
I think Max is a fabulous qualifier - but he (and his father and RBR frankly) shows disrespect to Ricciardo who is also strong - I mean he beat Dan in Brasil by .002 of a second - the reality is these guys are both good and frankly I suspect both would be gunning for pole every race if in the Merc/F...

I suspect it's part RBR trying things on - I just wonder if they're trying the more extreme things on with Dan - with him paying price - so they can do more later 'if it works' - but knowing it is most likely not to work

I don't think Vettel's performances have been mediocre - just eratic - he's had some great drives and at the same time silly errors - sometimes followed by great recoveries But I do think that another equal driver would have won in this year's (and possibly last year's) Ferrari - Dan for one - Hamil...

The issue is the reduction in aero - which surely effects rbr more than any other Greek as it’s towering strength - so reduce the cornering advantage and gains Aren’t as quantifiable

Sandman - given that with reliability Dan would have easily been in 4th or 3rd place on WDC table - how has reliability 'not' been an issue for him? Max has had a few reliability issues - but mostly issues of his 'own' making

Does it suggest that RBR are actually intervening with Dan as his remarkable reliability record suggests? Why be petty and block him from testing for Renault (Horner's excuse doesn't hold water given how much RBR have gained (or shafted) v Dan in salary terms this year alone - and is the reliability...

posted a message about issues with the 'official ' Dan ricciardo site - previous message here disappeared
wondered why that site was locking down multiple threads (not mine) for no particular reason - no nasty stuff
it appeared that RBR was intervening
What do people here think about that?

If the aero is going to be less complicated from 2019 - surely that will hurt RBR more than other teams - meaning that engine (primarily) and driver performance will be key - that may be a factor as well

No one seems to be commenting on the Ricciardo incident in the same way they are the Vettel one. Now although I do see Bottas as at fault and have no issue with the penalty, it was clear Bottas was going to understeer (Horner said it as they approached the corner talking to the Sky commentators) an...

I fail to see how moving twice- Especially when it’s against a team mate - Can possibly be justified - once it was clear that he’d block A move - then either Max thinks dan can’t make it - in which case He easily retains position - Or dan would have stuck the pass. As Dan was faster at Baku - the fa...

If Ricciardo can get into turn 1 in the lead, then all things being equal he should walk it in.
