Re: 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Threa
Ferrari appear to have brought a fairly comprehensive upgrade package to Bahrain: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/ferrari-brings-major-upgrade-to-bahrain-gp-893523/ Geez they are not stuffing around. Hopefully Kimi and Bottas can lift their game and we get a real 4 way battle at the front, that ...

Re: 2017 Chinese Grand Prix Race Thread
The only car I've noticed producing tip vortices so far is the RBR pair. Are they running a higher downforce rear wing and making more drag because of that, or could it be because they aren't running a T-wing and therefore there is nothing to interfere with the vortex there either?... I've still got...

Very disappointed in Malaysia dropping off the list, it's actually one of my favourite tracks and is very well balanced overall. Also Malaysia is simply an amazing place and now a lot of people won't get to experience that and the local economy will miss out on that yearly influx of foreign cash whi...

Re: F1 Agrees Cheaper & Noisier Engines from 2021
The MGU-H is the one part of the engine that I see having the MOST road relevance. With practically all car manufacturers moving to lower displacement turbocharged motors it is a perfect fit. Work a generator attached to the turbo there is no need for an alternator any more meaning that electrical ...

Sounds like maintaining the current regulations unchanged meets most of the requirements mentioned. I don't see a way that they can possibly achieve all objectives at the same time. It will clearly have to be a turbocharged core engine supported by an electric hybrid system. Now the core engine there isn't really a whole deal that they can do to make them cheaper or simpler, they simply are what t...

Re: Sauber to use Honda power from April?
I doubt that they would be able to make it fit without significant chassis changes, the engines this year are completely redesigned from the '16 models like Sauber are using, which would probably cost more than just continuing to use the engines that they are using already. On the other hand the mor...

Start of the race should be excellent! You have the Mercedes on one side who are historically terrible starters against the Ferrari pair on the other side who for years have been the best starters on the grid. That will be a fight well worth the wait. The only other thing that I hope is that none of...

These cars WILL NOT FORGIVE A lot of grip but when its gone its gone I've got a suspicion that a lot of this is due to the majority of the downforce coming from the massive diffuser. I think Ferrari is closer than it seems. This track suits more Merc than Ferrari. True. Mercedes has had a much larger advantage in Australia than average for both 2015 and 2016 - if Ferrari is actually close in the race (not 10+ seconds behind) then it might very well mean they'll be able to chall...
