Re: 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
The teams with the biggest headaches are: Mclaren: They have absolutely no pace around here. They have had their issues in testing and the Merc engine is a step behind but this is a heartbreakingly poor start with so much expectation and so much improvement in recent years. Ricciardo understandabky ...

Re: 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Russell and Wolff seemed to suggest that George was instructed to drive a quicker outlap in the search of extra tyre temp which compromised him. It has been a very impressive F1 return for K-Mag. A huge wakeup call for Mick Schumacher who would have been anticipating a rather comfortable inter team ...

Re: 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
As soon as I saw that Aston Martin, I thought they've either got this very right or very wrong... Early signs hint at the latter. The Mercedes engine doesn't look very quick at all whereas the Ferrari unit really rather does. It was a good effort by Norris and hopefully Ricciardo's struggles are dow...

Re: Bottas vs Massa Revisited: The Analysis Nobody Wanted
For Kimi, I don't really see it as him being rapid from late 2002 to 2006 only to then gradually decline to simply a good driver just because the Michelin tyres. That is merely one factor though. There was a paradigm shift in the sport from 2007 onwards: where previously teams would set up the car ...

Re: Bottas vs Massa Revisited: The Analysis Nobody Wanted
But Massa's performance in 2016 really wasn't good compared to Bottas. I'm not sure why Mercedes would even consider a driver that was about to retire... That's what I mean by age. Massa was already on the decline by 2016. In 2014 and 2015, there was little to separate them, in my view. Anyway, do ...

Re: Abu Dhabi 2021 - How has it left you feeling?
I'm still excited for the new season. Abu Dhabi 2021 is a part of F1 history now for better or worse. If I'm honest, I was hoping for a Ferrari vs Mclaren title fight with Red Bull and Mercedes both largely out of contention. That's just because the Red Bull vs Mercedes and Horner vs Toto psychodram...

Re: Which would have been the most controversial last race of the season?
The Baku scenario would just be seen as bad luck like Mansell's in 1986. I'd say Silverstone would have the more lasting notoriety as title protagonists crashing in title deciding fashion tends to live long in the memory.
I'd say Spa would be the absolute worst scenario though.

Re: Mercedes Lodge Multiple Protests Against Result
According to the Express, Mercedes are not going ahead with the appeal after repeated requests from Lewis to Toto to drop it. If true, I find this disappointing. Lewis may wish to be magnanimous and that's fine, but I feel it's much bigger than him - the integrity of the sport is on the line here. ...

In what alternate universe did you watch a race where all lapped cars were unlapped and the result didn't change? Before this race I couldn't see Lewis retiring. It's been a chastening season for Leclerc really. The points table doesn't tell the entire story of course, but I expected him to beat Sainz fairly comfortably by any metric. What happened today was at the very least not in the spirit of Masi's overriding authority. Re: Mercedes Lodge Multiple Protests Against Result
Masi has roughly the level of job security that Boris Johnson currently has and about the same aptitude for his job I'm afraid.
I don't buy any bias claims tbh as he has been equal opportunities inadequate throughout the season. His role surely now has to be broken down amongst two or three people.

Hmm 15.3 does sound broad enough in scope to cover the decision. It might well be clarified in the break because it essentially allows Masi to transform himself into the Entertainment Tsar. The power went to his head big time in this race.

It was a great lap by Verstappen but I'm in the opinion Red Bull have sacrificed race pace for one lap like in Jeddah. Lets not forget Verstappen should have been on pole by 3-4 tenths. Jos and Marko keep on saying that every other driver gets pretty well with Max compared to Lewis. But so far any explicit quote by any driver is like indirect Max bashing.
