Re: Rank the Drivers 2023 Season Performance

I haven't voted yet as I'm finding it really hard, but here is what I've come up with so far: I'll put some points next to several I'm unsure about. The groups are a reasonably clear difference between the performance of the drivers, though some gaps are much bigger than others. 1: Verstappen 2: Alo...

Re: Official Valtteri Bottas Thread

I've been writing this throughout the season as I follow Bottas pretty closely during the races (not on track though ;) ) He's had possibly the worst luck of any season in his career, and in an odd way too. It is more related to damage rather than retirements. Here is the list, and it is big. Saudi...

Re: 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread

Hamilton's racecraft has looks a bit messy lately it seems. i've just watched the highlights. I would say he was entirely to blame for hitting Gasly and was very lucky that he didn't have to change his wing. He's had clashes in quite a few races this year. If Gasly got damage, I think hamilton shoul...

Re: 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

Poor performance by one of the team mates in every team except the Mclaren. Though Norris again making mistakes when Mclaren has looked good. Having not seen the qualifying and seeing this post, I knew it would be Hamilton who had dropped the ball, interesting sign that maybe he is on the decline n...

Re: 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

Perez is just hopeless at the moment. Or is it an archivement just getting into q3? I really hope the team don't keep using his P2 in the standings as reasoning behind keeping him next year. He just keeps failing to get good results in qualifying in the race.

Re: 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

Hamilton has said he likes it when there’s not many practice sessions during the weekend (like this weekend and sprint weekend). He never actually seems to do very well when there’s a lack of practice. I think he definitely needs all three practice sessions to maximise the pace of the car in qualif...

Re: 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix Race Thread

I thought there would never be a stage of the season that over a fair chunk of races, Stroll has scored the same number of points as Alonso. Over the last 5, Stroll has scored 26 points. Alonso has also scored 26.

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix

Can't understand the quantity of votes for Perez. He drove way too close to Bottas and then had no room to steer away from him when Bottas had to slow before hitting alonso. I blame Perez for this as there were more drivers behind perez that will have hit him - if they hadn't kept a more sensible di...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix

Verstappen, Ocon and Stroll for me. Yes, I know giving it to the race winner is controversial. I think what raises eyebrows for me is choosing Verstappen over Leclerc; I thought the latter did a much better job and deserved the win, cruelly taken away by the safety car. That's how it is in racing s...

Re: Driver(s) of the day - 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix

This vote is for what he did specifically today. But Checo achieved just that today , did he not? Beating a seven-time-world champion to P2 in the championship with a race to spare, something only the great Kimi Räikkönen has done before, to the even greater Michael Schumacher. Staring behind Lewis...

Checo for me... in the fight for P2 in the WDC he completely annihilated a 7xWC, with a race to spare. Something that hasn't been done since Kimi beat Michael to P2 in 2005. ;) I feel you may say this to just frustrate some others or do you actually think that Perez gettign P2 is a really good arch...

When was the last time an unsafe release from the pits been let off or had no review necessary? Guess what, Verstappen made it happen.
Stroll's release into the side of verstappen was worse and that didn't even get noted.

Not watched the race so no comment on any of that from me but I’ve just looked at the standings. Ferrari are only four points behind Mercedes again now. I’d expect Ferrari to be stronger again in Abu Dhabi so we could be on for a late position swap there. Alonso is back above Norris and level with ...
