Re: 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

I think Russel keeping his foot to the floor whist taking to the gravel, was moment of qualifying for me. I really really hope he gets a competitive car in the next couple of year. that was amazing, I was sure that lap was gone. That moment kept his record intact - never being outqualified by a tea...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2020 Italian Grand Prix

Weirdly enough, I don't think this was even Gasly's best drive of the season. But the soppy git in me is absolutely delighted for him. And that's how it really works many times, he got this 'fortunate' win also as a compensation for his other good drives throughout the year. In the bigger picture h...

Re: 2020 Italian Grand Prix Race Thread

I'm not sure about the straight line speed, it seemed to me that Hamilton was much closer through the corners to the ones in front than Bottas ever was, and on straights he was slooowly crawling to the car in front while being very close. Both Mercs didn't look super fast on straights, but you neede...

Re: 2020 Italian Grand Prix Race Thread

Hamilton will have a hard time entering the points! Bottas favourite for win IMO. Bottas hasn't overtaken anything since the start of the race I think partly because there was a fast straightline Renault in front. I have a feeling he will get some cars at the start then Stroll not opposing much res...

Re: 2020 Belgian Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread

I wonder how much slower the new lap record would have been, had the FIA insisted on track limits. It is so frustrating. We already have cars with so much grip that once great corners are now taken with ease, so when track limits are ignored, the radius is increased making some corners pretty easy ...

Normally I wish for the unpredictability that rain brings, but Merc is very good in rain, they will extent their advantage.
Max has better chances in the dry to pip Bottas.

Leclerc, Ricciardo and Perez for managing to get to places they shouldn't have.

Leclerc and Ricciardo in terms of finishing positions, and Perez in terms of getting to be an option on this poll.

Not just because his tally of all time poles, but because he always manages to find a way to get that lap time, many times in unlikely and at limit situations, Hamilton is for me the undisputed all time best qualifier, hands down.

Besides Turkey 2010, just what's in recent memory, Vettel did that at start here with Ham (very close), then in Mexic again at start with Ham (pushing Ham on grass). Pushing the opponent wide in straight line. Only what I remember, but I know he did this lots of times, without accidents but creating...

Unnecesary complicated. It will became a game of penalties. What's wrong with using all the space you want if you can drive on it? (generally, not chicanes and stuff like that where you can gain immense amount of time). In F1 everything is already too tight, especially with this new era 2m wide cars...

that was not actually bad, they all behave.
That's how you get people to learn: put them out there in the difficult situations and let them figure it out.
If you're gonna go keep overdoing it with the security they're not gonna learn to deal with impromptu situations.
