I am just correcting you. You said only by 1999 could he get anywhere near a title challenge. This is false. How or why he challenged is a matter of opinion but the fact is he did.
You just have to change the outcome of a single race per season and he wins the title in 97,98 and 99.

Re: Winning Streaks in the Lewis Hamilton Era
Let’s face it, Hamilton only became super successful when he joined Mercedes. Hardly the same career trajectory as what made Schumacher an all time great. He has been very fortunate to end up with dominant machinery over such a long time. There's almost no difference in terms of career trajectories...

Re: Winning Streaks in the Lewis Hamilton Era
So Verstappen became unstoppable when the team mate that was regularly his equal left the team... what a coincidence. You mean when a teammate, who got tonked 15-6 in qualifying in 2018, ran away from Max before his 21st birthday because he could see the writing on the wall? But no in 2019 and 2020...

Re: Winning Streaks in the Lewis Hamilton Era
2018 qualifying analysis depends on what you want to show. You have 15-6, 21 sessions but in 8 sessions one of the drivers did not set a representative time. I would love to see how that 0.2% was calculated considering all the breakdowns in qualifying. Vertsappen was quicker than Ricciardo in 2018,...

Re: Winning Streaks in the Lewis Hamilton Era
Oh I agree that overtaking from 2017-2021 was poor, I just don’t see the logic behind including 2015 and 2016 in that category. The cars were significantly smaller and lighter back then. 2015-2016 was peak whoever leads after T1 wins precisely because dirty air had started to make passing much more...

Re: Winning Streaks in the Lewis Hamilton Era
There were more overtakes in 2016 than 2022 despite one fewer race btw. I'd argue Hamilton lost more races to Rosberg and Bottas precisely because of the effect of dirty air. Verstappen blasting through the field and past Perez isn't because he's so much better than Hamilton was in a dominant car (...

Re: Winning Streaks in the Lewis Hamilton Era
So he was really looking for an even more winning formula? Yes, now that makes total sense of course. The 2022 formula plays to both Hamilton and Verstappen's strengths in a way the 2015-2021 didn't. There were more overtakes in 2016 than 2022 despite one fewer race btw. You only really get overtak...

all lapped cars must unlap themselves SC may come in only 1 lap later both of these rules were violated by Masi. there was no more race left legally. and no one can defend against a 5 seconds faster car, stop spinning this nonsense. Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
Do you think Masi sat on the track ? He decided the outcome single handedly. It was a race where Hamilton led all laps, even pulled a huge gap on Max. Masi turned it into a 1 lap cheat circus with Max having 3-5 seconds faster car. Masi did not sit on the track. And it wasn't Masi's authority to de...

There is a 100% chance Mercedes thought the race would end under safety car when they decided to stay out. Mercedes hoped the race would end under a SC. It really was 50/50 really. Did I say anything about fairness? I don’t think I did? But it is better to look at the facts. What Masi did was not against the regulations, the stewards dismissed the protest of Mercedes and Mercedes chose to drop its appeal. That leads to the conclusion that Masi’s removal as race director was a...

Re: Michael Masi. 1 Year on.
Does anybody have the answer to what I asked?
What was given as the official reason for handpicking just the cars between Hamilton and Verstappen and not allowing the others to unlap themselves?
I’ve have heard people say Masi did not break a rule in doing that, but why did he do it?

You don't seem to understand what I mean. By turning into a car alongside of you, even if you are supposed to "have that corner", even if it is not your fault, you lose that potential race win anyway. What good is superior insight, if you're not using it? I know the stewards declared Verstappen to ...

His post race Eiffel comments don’t look good against AD. Him stating the rules required him to allow all 10/11 lapped cars through. That one was the fact that we had to, there's a requirement in the sporting regulations, to wave all lapped cars past," Masi said. "I think from that point, it was pos...

Re: The best season performance from any driver
I really hate the culture of measuring top drivers by simply totting up the number of mistakes made and basing a decision seemingly solely on that. Yes, it's a factor but it shouldn't be the only factor. Senna made a mistake in Monaco during a season where he was roasting the guy, who everyone thou...

The 'human error' element from AD21 may well be with respect to acepted practice, or the intent of the rules as written.
