Re: 2016 Hungary Qualifying Thread

ah Rosberg. How much is Mercedes paying the Stewards to go light on you? Deliberately causing a crash in Austria - 10 second penalty Cheating in Silverstone to receive advice on your car that meant no gearbox failure (and thus a non race finish and no points) - 10 second penalty Purple sector in qua...

Re: How would you approach the problem of mechanical penalti

Bring back the 80s when teams could bring the T car to an event, they could change parts willy nilly and drivers didn't get BS penalties for things that were beyond their influence. Penalising drivers for hardware issues is akin to penalising toddlers when they did nothing wrong. It's just plain stu...

Re: How should the FIA tackle track limit abuse?

Why not just have only the inside of the track (apex of corners) marked out - with barriers - and let them do what they want on the outside? Make the tack 40 metres wide and see how much time advantage they get by tryig to use all of it. They'd have to find the optimal line for themselves and it wo...

Re: How should the FIA tackle track limit abuse?

I'll add that if F1 wants to keep this old fan, they better clean up their act and fix things, not screw them up like they currently are. Cos otherwise, I'm just gonna lose interest in this sport and give up on it. I only have so many hours of R&R in my life, and I can easily devote them to other ho...

Re: How should the FIA tackle track limit abuse?

people are looking at this wrong imho - the problem is that modern tracks simply are badly designed. The optimal lines through corners for maximum speeds are sadly including the current areas covered by kerbs. Those kerbs should be removed, and the track extended in those areas to allow the cars to ...

Re: Team Radio Ban - Are We Missing the Point?

Well part of the issue is that the current cars are just ridiculously over tech and MUST be dumbed down. There's no doubt in mind that there's a direct correlation between the ever increasing technology in the sport and the decline of close and exciting racing. Senna himself was not a fan of all of ...

Re: I'm calling it now.

Dunno if I'd go that far that soon but I'm seeing so many parallels with early Schumacher. I believe Vandoorne is the only hope for the non-Max believers Vandoorne should already have been employed full time, he is really good. Agreed that Max shows signs of Schumacher, to me also of Prost in 1980-...

A view of the incident some might not have seen - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4LZK5Ko0OU Does anybody know what the commentator says? Doesn't look nearly as bad from that angle... Still doesn't look good. You can still see that Nico goes way too deep and doesn't turn in until he effectively hi...

Re: I'm calling it now.

Max WDC in 2017? I doubt it. Nothing against Max, he's an outstanding talent and no doubt future WDC, but I don't see Mercedes given up that #1 car that easy. Hamilton, Rosberg and Wehrlein are all excellent development drivers too and Mercedes has shown that it knows how to get things right when it...

Re: Team Radio Ban - Are We Missing the Point?

Get rid of the ban entirely. I didn't mind Rocky coaching Seb to nurse his tires. Even asking for braking points etc, I see nothing wrong with it. I actually miss the pit to driver communication so drivers could make decisions based on information. It actually made watching the races interesting. W...

My 2c worth (inc. GST) - any team orders is akin to race fixing. Since gambling on the race is legal in most countries, said governments should investigate FIA for allowing race fixing (in regards to people gambling on the race outcome). Sorry, not sorry, but definitely not a fan of race fixing, oo...

It's not a comparison of the bad luck they have both had, let's not go down that road yet...at least not until rosberg wins the wdc 😂 We're a 1/3 into the season or thereabouts and LH is on his last Engine. Re: 2016 British Grand Prix Race Thread

Team's fault the penalty, they should've said they can't tell Nico like they've did with Lewis. Spot on well, to be fair then, perhaps Hamilton's impending hardware penalties should be placed on the team, and not Lewis? I mean, it's not his fault they gave him dodgy hardware is it? I mean, a 10 sec...

Damn Rosberg is coming at him fast but Hamilton has this in the bag unless he makes a mistake Yet again, it's too little, too late from Rosberg. The most recent F1 race before this would refute that statement What, you mean get the undercut for 8-10 laps on his main competitor, then have his main c...

Re: Sebastian and Fernando - Have Ferrari gained or Lost?

As someone who's watched F1 for a long time, I'd rate Alonso over Vettel any day of the week. Vettel is fast, but he lacks in certain areas (wet weather racing, passing other cars are 2 that come to mind). As to Raikkonen - he's long since bee overrated. He only won in 2007 because McLaren screwed u...
