Re: [Merged] Mercedes v Ferrari v Red Bull - 2018 edition

To me it seems that:

Ferrari have found some pace, but at the expense of tyre wear.

Merc have found more pace, but have also started to fix the inherent issues they have had with tyre wear.

Re: Ricciardo's future: Another Hamilton, or another Alonso?

I think this all started after the baku post race de brief. Then there was no doubt he would be playing second to the golden child. I think he didn't want to put up with that anymore - add in Honda??'s - Renault expansions. No brainer in my book. Now Max will have to be the leader and I don't think...

Re: McLaren drivers 2019

I think Sainz is nailed on. Tough call on the second seat, but with Vandoorne not seemingly performing against Alonso I think Norris may get the nod. If George wins F2 though, maybe they might leave Norris in there for another year to see if Vandoorne improves? If Norris wins F2 it could be interest...

Re: When, and to where, will Ricciardo move? [A: 2019, Renau

I do think getting away from Max is probably a big part of the decision. But not because Dan thought he couldn’t beat him. More because Red Bull have shown themselves to favour Max when it counts. Giving Max an extension and a big pay rise and openly stating Max could build the team around himself ...

I am very skeptical on two things: - Stroll and his buddies wanting a competitive teammate for Stroll Jr (which would exclude both Perez and Ocon; the only hope would be Mercedes insisting on Ocon) (... if Stroll does not switch to Ferrari ...) - Stroll and his buddies having a sustainable interest...

Yeah, it was one heck of a race - maybe Bernie's sprinkler idea wasn't so bad !

It had everything in it - gotta love a race on a drying track.

Mine has been a transition. Damon Hill, then he retired and it was Hakkinen for a few years. Then he retired and it was Kimi as I was happy he was going to Mclaren, and finally Lewis.

I've never supported a specific team, mostly drivers that excited me on track.

It seems to me, that Ferrari now have the best PU, but Merc are a bit kinder on the tyres.

Could it just be that the extra Ferrari power is hurting the tyres more than previously?

It may be interesting to see what happens if the Stroll move does happen. Might he be a handy driver in a car that's better than the Williams, or might this go the same way in a year. I don't know the ins and outs but I have my concerns over Stroll senior's involvements within Williams. OK, he's pay...

I think Renault.

Haas Have the better car but one driver with seemingly zero confidence - and Steiner going on the record as not best pleased (if true)

The Merc engine has been pretty much caught up now so Force India won't get 4th.

Re: France: Vettels 5 Second Penalty

When you think Bottas lost almost an entirely lap by cruising around with a flat tyre He didn't lose almost an entire lap, as there was a safety car and he could start from exactly 4 tenths behind Vettel. I think this is why he was given a 5 second penalty, as both were close together come the rest...

Re: France: Vettels 5 Second Penalty

I think the appropriate penalty ranges from 5 second time penalty to drive through. I think a 5 second stop go (effectively a 30 second penalty with the pit lane time) is a bit extreme. No need for it to be anymore than a drive through. Personally with the benefit of hindsight I'd have said a 10 se...

I don't need overtaking to enjoy a race - just the ability to get close enough to at least try it.

I think a drive through would have been better.

There is some thought that it may be called as a first lap incident, but as it wasn't mid pack I think a penalty was fair.

There's no perfect scenario here, especially when the guy that caused the incident finishes in front of the guy he punted off.

You cant.

Get rid of it - how can the FIA bang on about safety (I'm looking at you, halo) yet let them race around this track - the cars are just too fast for it in my opinion.
