Re: If Dario Franchiti went to F1...
Considering how well matched he is to his team mate, he has the edge over Dixon but doesn't eat him alive, I'd say most of the F1 field would have his way with him. He's close to Scott and F1 has always been Scott's dream. Nearly got a test once with Toyota when Chip's outfits was using Toyota engin...

Re: Time to end the myth of drivers ability to develop cars?
They give feedback and some are better than others which is important for set up. As for much input they have to car design, it's questionable. I wouldn't have thought it it could be that much but I wonder about the F2012's front suspension, the first car with pull rod front suspension since the Min...

Re: RBR Rubber nose cone?
It does not look like carbon fibre to me don't know what tho certainly does look bendy. My automatic thought was it would flex down at speed ? Couldn't think how that would help so then thought this. The regs state the nose has a max height, so what if its built to that and somehow at speed flexies...

Re: It's not over yet...
No it's not over, 50 points to play for but the RB8 is strong as hell. It'll take something special for Nando to walk away with the championship but it's doable. Austin has some long straights which won't suit the Redbull and the teams have no real world data to work with, so set up will be a crapsh...

He's not as quick as the drivers in the other top teams, so why walk away from the fastest car on the grid? Ferrari shows some interest at one stage, but as a number two only. Number two in the fastest car or even pegging in a midfield car, there's podiums and race wins available in one, or scrappin...

Having an engine problem so they need to shut down for technical reasons only to not have enough fuel for the sample, considering you're supposed to get back to the pits under your own steam in qualifying is fishy as hell. RBR is the Renault works team, so nearly one and the same so their word is as...

I don't think it's their biggest secret though. Nearly started a thread on this a couple of times but that slot in the front isn't being tunnelled into the cockpit for cooling the drivers. The bulges on the top outside of the nose are pipes, but where they're piping to is a mystery. If it were sucki...

We're not racing argy-bargy tin tops, they're open wheeled speed machines which is why F1 is a non-contact sport. Someone is always to blame when there is contact, the debate is where it fits in between a range of "an acceptable mistake, aka racing incident" to "plain stupidity". A lot of stupid arg...

It doesn't bode well for Merc when both of their customer teams can put their engine in a better chassis. But the 2012 car is a lemon designed around the DDRS, fingers crossed for a better chassis next year.

Agreed he has no right to next year's car, but they didn't need to mention it to anyone. By doing so they've admitted that they compromised Lewis's weekend (he would have spent the session trying to set up his car for the race with parts that won't be on it) and even made him look the fool.

They get to test new parts for next year, keep it from the guy who's leaving in four races as engineers say he started to get nosier than normal about next year's car around the time of the Merc announcement, and slap him in the face to reinforce their pedigree. It's the ultimate 'f**k you'.

Ferrari's main concern, every year, is not the WCC. Yes there is more money to be paid out from F1 the higher up the WCC you place but they're a manufacturer who sell cars to run their racing programme. Having a world champion driver is more marketable than having being the WCC. A driver has a face,...

The Drag Reduction System does just what it says, reduces drag. It doesn't eliminate drag created by the rear wing so there's room for improvement by creating a system that reduces drag further.
