Re: Cheers Rubens

Rubens spent a lot of his time at a team for which F1 is synonymous with whilst alongside a team-mate who was not only regarded as the most talented driver there but who had the team more-or-less built around him. Before that he proved hmself as a very strong racer in his own right (Donington '93 sp...

Re: I don't see what is so good about Kubica...

I could argue several points against the original poster but all I will say, from my perspective, is that if you are not impressed by Robert Kubica you have not seen him race.

Re: A sensible discussion about Blue Flags

The more I read on this topic the more I am inclined to stick with my opinion on Option 3, in that drivers about to be lapped should be made aware of a lapping car bearing down but should not be expected to dive off the racing line... simply that there is no need to defend against the lapping car. I...

Re: Button thinks partnering with Alonso would be exciting

My tuppence worth, as this appears to be a Jenson vs Fernando thread..! In my view, both drivers have very similar qualitities in that they like to have, and are capable of, building a team around them. Jenson with BAR (then Honda and ultimately Brawn) and Mclaren, Fernando with Renault and Ferrari....

Re: A sensible discussion about Blue Flags

Is it actually three corners, or three waved blue flags? What about a scenario in which a car about to be lapped is shown a blue flag immediately ahead of a sequence of corners (Suzuka's esses spring to mind)? It's quite difficult to both slow down and go off line without placing oneself in danger o...

Re: 2012 Planet F1 MotoGP Thread

I am still struggling to believe that we will not see Marco Simoncelli; he lit up the old 250 class and did the same in MotoGp. I will admit to not being the biggest fan of Casey but, boy, can he ride a bike - the manner in which he tamed that old Ducati was quite outstanding. My eye will largely be...

Re: What is the defendable deficit?

I would also argue that Sebastian Vettel did a fine job of holding off Lewis Hamilton in Barcelona last year, though I ouwld add the proviso that the Red Bull was aerodynamically superior to the Macca and he did manage to create a gap off the last corner ahead of the DRS zone. Still good race manage...

Re: mclaren fuel saving etc

It's worth pointing out that the drivers tend to continue to drive pretty much flat out but the engine is simply 'toned down' if in fuel-saving mode. I specifically recall Jake Humphrey asking Jenson whether he eased off on his driving when asked to save fuel and Jenson replied that he continued to ...

Re: Jenson gets better and better !!

Agree that Jenson has become better since 2009. He was finally given a car that could win him a title - especially after Honda pulling out of F1 - took the opportunity and is a more relaxed character having achieved his dream. All the same, he is still hungry for more and he is with a team that can ...

Re: Best hamilton Win And Why

As has already been mentioned on here, some of his best drives were not wins. His fightback through the field at urkay in GP2, 2006, was quite spectacular. Several of his early races in his debut year - before his maiden victory in Canada - were very good drives too. Turkey 2006: http://www.youtube....

Got into it in 1985 and immediately became a fan of our Nige. Standout moment for me was at my Gran's, with my brother, watching Aus '86 at 4am, waiting to see Nigel crowned champion when that blowout happenned... been hooked pretty much since.
