Re: Pick your McLaren 2015 Team

I voted for continuity, although I nearly voted Alonso & Button. Why Alonso & Button? It's a statement of intent by McLaren. It's the McLaren that is a top team that two world champions want to drive for. It's the top team that sponsors will want to sponsor. Only Ferrari can claim to have two world ...

I have two of these! Nowadays they look like they do in the picture in the OP, the Weetabix "sponsorship" stickers having come off long ago.

Re: 1994-2012 - 10 german driver championships...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Formula_One_drivers Much to my surprise, the United States is second on the list! If you look closely apart from a couple of them, they all have just a couple races. It is because Indy500 has been counted to F1 standings around late 50's. Good point! I counted 3...

Re: 1994-2012 - 10 german driver championships...

Much to my surprise, the United States is second on the list! I had a quick scan through the list and it looked like the majority of the drivers were racing in the 50's and 60's. I wonder if it's because American racing series during that period weren't fully developed or perhaps that during the 70...

Re: Time for heads to roll at Ferrari?

Perhaps LdM should stop using Ferrari as part of his political campaign. I don't know how much of an effect this has had but it seemed to me that Ferrari lost some momentum when he tried to make the team "more Italian".

in a country where they could care less about where some guy named Charles Pic finishes Shouldn't that be "could not care less" ? Just want to clarify how much the Americans care about where Pic finishes... ;) Um, that wasn't my post. The guy after me said that. Sorry, I've corrected it now.

Re: So not only Whitmarsh stresses Perez out, even his team

Jenson Button predicts early struggles for Sergio Perez at McLaren next year He has struggled badly since the move was announced, with a series of crashes, and he has only picked up one point in the last six races. The Mexican remains confident he about his chances next season but Button says it is...

Re: BBC : F1 Greatest Drivers (Top 20)

He was also very nearly a 4 times WDC - he was brought in by the team as a precaution to check the tyres after Mansell's blow-out while leading the final race of 1986 and surrendered the lead to Prost. One might argue that mishaps etc are part of the sport but as it turned out there was nothing wro...

Re: BBC : F1 Greatest Drivers (Top 20)

I'll wait to see the whole list but Piquet belongs in the Top 10, in my opinion...Hard to argue with 3 WDC in the era when he raced against Prost, Senna, Mansell Yeah, it's just a case of anti-Piquet british bias. Certainly, but I think there's more to it than that - when Autosport polled 217 F1 dr...

Re: BBC : F1 Greatest Drivers (Top 20)

Nigel Mansell- An exciting and newsworthy driver but, when all is said and done, he only has one championship and I believe results do trump potential. The selection committee has him ahead of two men with three championships and three with two championships. Gilles Villenueve- The same as Mansell ...

Re: Teammate relationships

I think* it was Button who said that the drivers really don't do stuff together out of work. * Not sure it was Button but I remember hearing it. You're right, it was Button. He said he and Hamilton have a really good working relationship but they don't spend time with each other socially. He went o...

Re: The most exciting and entertaining drivers of all?

I for one, am not looking forward to the next Senna. I cut my F1 teeth watching his antics, his attitudes and his propensity for deliberately driving into other cars. His early demise has secured hero worship for an undoubtedly talented but highly flawed driver who should not be emulated. Schumache...

Re: Who most resents whom?

Hunt and Patrese or Piquet snr and Mansell have to be amongst the funniest. I wouldn't say Hunt's attitude towards Patrese was funny - he unfairly blamed Patrese for causing Ronnie Peterson's death. Admittedly, many other drivers felt the same way at the time, but Hunt never let it go (understandab...

Re: Who most resents whom?

Yeah Button and Alonso. I reckon this sounds pretty believable actually. Alonso has always dismissed Button as a threat as well and it does seem a liittle odd when generally most drivers talk each other up when asked to give a general opinion. Could well be a Flavio thongImean thing ;) I find this ...

Re: Bruno Senna wins Lorenzo Bandini Trophy! You Kidding?

1992: Ivan Capelli Says it all really. 1992 was when Capelli joined Ferrari. Ferrari (and the award panel) must have seen something in him in his career up until then. On the rare occasions he finished a race, he did post some respectable results here and there, I suppose. http://en.wikipedia.org/w...
