Re: 2021 British Grand Prix Race Thread
That line he took with Leclerc was a perfect exemplification of how he SHOULD've done in the first instance with Max. Hamilton winning this one with his main rival out of the race, due mainly to his mistake, doesn't do justice to F1. Did Hamilton take a different line or did Leclerc take a differen...

Re: 2021 British Grand Prix FP & Qualy/Sprint Thread
Is the Williams among the top 5 cars? I've heard some people say (and it is often obvious) that williams focus more on qualifying and and very often struggle much more on race pace (though Russell was excellent on race day last time out). I don't think they will be in the top 5, but certainly close...

Re: [Merged] F1 Saturday sprint race
One interesting thought is that a team/driver can perhaps take a bit more of a gamble towards race set-up than qualy in this format. Perez is out of position for Sprint Qualy tomorrow, but he can use the sprint race to get back into position, and certainly the target should be to clear the Ferrari....

Re: Silly Season 2022
It's rumoured Checo will stay with RB for '22. However, RB are insisting on a 1-year contract whereas Checo wants a multi-year contract. This disagreement is nothing too big but probably delaying the announcement. I fear an extension will happen. As it means no in-team competition at RBR whatsoever...

he should have been the 1981 wdc if not for his team working against him. Oh? He complained of gearbox problems at Las Vegas, where he was lapped by the winner, his teammate Jones. Re: Did Alpine make a mistake extending Ocon's contract?
Ocon could be a long term #2 driver for them but as a #1 he would be pretty dreadful and bring the level down to Haas or Alfa Romeo in terms of their lead driver level... Ocon was easily beaten by Perez, destroyed by Ricciardo, only looked good till Alonso was obviously rusty and now again back to ...

This guy basically says the driver ahead ( ahead by any margin ) owns the racing line and can use it all. He also says lewis alex last year was different because alex was ahead, but he was only ahead due to gunning straight into ans overlapping lewis line, which at the time lewis was ahead. Fine wi...

They'll be let off. We know that if many drivers break the rules the stewards give them a free pass for some reason. It can only be the drivers behind Kimi and Vettel? You have been proved correct (mostly). Sainz, Perez, Ricciardo, Leclerc, Gasly, Giovinazzi all cleared. Mazepin and Latifi get a th...

If the others get a penalty then surely Vettel should get two? One for the slowing and one for the blocking. Or he might even escape one due to the fact that the other overtook him and slowed down thus impeding him. 1411333587392249861 His lap was ruined anyway at that point in time - and still he ...

Awful from AM/Vettel, but Alpine should know better not to send their car out as early as they did, stupid deicsion Drivers have been told not to go slow where Vettel was going slow. Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021
I think the difference is not so much the severity of the mistakes but the severity of the outcomes. Imola behind the SC and France first corner could have easily damaged Verstappen's car and then people would give very different assessments. Verstappen got more lucky with his mistakes than Hamilto...

Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021
I think it’s exactly that. Mercedes are putting more of their resource to 2022 than Red Bull are at the moment. If that continues it will probably show over the rest of this season but also at the start of next season. Red Bull outspending the opposition while some believe it's the brilliance of Ma...

Just imagine if we had sprint quali in the last race.... Perez and Bottas would have been able to regain there normal positions in 3rd and 4th. Re: Will Mercedes bring any meaningful upgrades in 2021?
I hope they keep developing this year's car. Otherwise, the wonderful prospect of having a close fight for the wdc that we have atm will quickly disppear. Given how far Perez is away from Verstappen, a Reb Bull domination will be at least as boring as the worst years we had so far. But for now, the ...

My view has not changed one bit. Overrated in the sense that he is viewed as better than what he really is. I knew Checo would overtake Bottas for the podium due to 1 reason mainly - nursing the tyres. So happy for Checo. Do we ever get 2 stop races? 1 stoppers dont let teams do alot for strategy. It is the teams who are so desperate to turn every race into a one stopper. Why would the teams be desperate for a one stopper? Risk aversion and overly reliance on computer-made strategies is my guess. We have seen it so ...

Today is another example showing Leclerc has been very over rated in this thread. He has the speed, but he is so inconsistent. I can't consider him as the fastest when he simply isn't on a regular basis. He really struggled to get a good lap together. If he is rated as high as he is, he should be q...

Re: Who is the fastest driver in F1 right now?
When you have a car that is definitely designed to your liking it's a whole lot easier to be consistent weekend in and weekend out. At Mercedes you get a feeling that the team is bending over backwards to assure that both drivers are as close to each other as possible. They even rotate the chassis ...

Sainz, Gasly, Russell and Schuey all did a sterling job. Gasly and Russell have been here before so perhaps we should expect them to do well. I'm going to preface this by echoing what Delphic said in their first paragraph. Training especially has made a huge difference to how/when athletes in general decline. Let's start with Hamilton. I actually think his raw speed is already declining, but it's countered by just how complete a driver h...
