Re: Neutral fans: Hamilton or Rosberg?
It's confusing, Nico is rubbished in one breath and lauded the next, I think he's done extremely well. How many other drivers in his position would have caved in and settled for being a very well paid number two? It’s all relative. Nico is clearly a great driver. He is very quick over one lap and v...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2016 Brazilian Grand Prix
I thought the discussion was about the Mercedes vs Redbull in the Wet? I personally don't know how to compare the Redbull and Mercedes in full wet conditions because Hamilton is so good, Rosberg is poor, Verstappen is good and Ricciardo was good at Monaco. Verstappen looks quicker than his teammate...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2016 Brazilian Grand Prix
To add to my last point, there is also a strong argument that Brazil is not a fair reflection on DR’s wet weather performance relative to Max (and Rosberg/Hamilton once you decide where the cars sit) if his visor was really causing him a lot of trouble through the race.

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2016 Brazilian Grand Prix
I have read an article that said the Redbull was the best car this year in wet conditions. Not that the Mercedes is bad, they are probably even I guess. Don't buy it after yesterday and after Silverstone. Verstappen had Rosberg beat on both occasions in the wet but couldn't touch Hamilton. While th...

Re: Driver(s) of the Day - 2016 Brazilian Grand Prix
The reality is max was very good on Sunday. I think most would also agree that rain plays to the strengths of the red bulls, seeing as we all look forward to a wet race as we know that red Bull have closed the gap sufficiently by now to be close to equal or stronger in those conditions. So whether y...

Re: Hypothetical Abu Dhabi situation
If Hamilton has a healthy enough lead I think they would give priority to Nico and try and get him past the Red Bulls - as I believe they have done in the past. I think Hamilton would just manage the gap though so it would become a non-issue though. He would ensure the gap is no more than a few seco...

Verstappen and Hamilton clearly the class of the field today, but the one period they were racing it was Max who made the mistake, so Hamilton edges it for me. Wouldn't like to call which car was quicker in those conditions. Great race though once it got up and running!

Also teams will no longer to be able to do what Mercedes did for Hamilton in taking lots of penalties at one GP in order to "stockpile" power unit components. Not sure how it will work, maybe a rule saying only one of each component can be taken in a weekend (unless it breaks again obviously) or so...

Would P2P be significantly different to KERS, or perhaps the KERS before the most recent modifications? Haha, just a beast. Didn’t seem that way in 2007 – sure it was fairly even but seem to recall Hamilton came out better a fair few times at the start of the season when he qualified behind. Have to give it to you that Alonso is probably more practiced at it of late though! Of course it had nothing to...

For example Red Bull, any issues with their engine this year were completely out of their control, no ...

See I completely disagree with that. It is more controversial when it affects two drivers from the same team, as they have the same machinery so it is clearly largely influenced by luck, although the driver can come into it, particularly if they have a big collision or something. But when a driver g...

Tough to call with so many out of position making it tough to compare team mates. There are lots of variables at play here and I think this kind of shows how they've gone a bit too far with the current engine regulations. I think a lot of people place a lot of weighting on Vettel's 2014, not because it was a bad year, but because it is becoming increasingly apparent that DR is his most competitive team mate in F1 to date. You can look at it as an off-year or poor form, but in reality is form really going to last a wh...

In the Mercedes Ricciardo and Vettel would give him some serious problems. Nobody is as good at converting wins out of a race winning car as Vettel. 9 wins in a row in 2013. Agree with everything you have said. It is a tricky one though as it is impossible to have rules that cover every event/incident, and that is why you have stewards to officiate. It is as subjective as having a referee to decide when a penalty is required, but they go one step further and decide an a...
