Re: Alono Vs Raikkonnen 2005
Kimi lost the championship by 21 points that year... but I disagree with any statement that even attempts to hint that he lost it for any other reason than reliability: San Marino - retires from lead, Alonso wins Europe - retires from lead on last lap, Alonso wins France - 10 place grid penalty, st...

Re: Argentina likely to replace Korean GP from 2013!
If Korea goes it would be another example of Bernie making a total shambles of the sport, first he suckers governments to build race tracks costing over $200 million(used once a year), then signs 3-5 year contracts at 50 million a year all with the promise of fabulous international exposure and econ...

I like Korea. Interesting lay out that has the potential to produce some decent racing, but if its not to be its not to be. Of it was up to me I would have a core of maybe 8 races and the rest rotating year on year. The we would get to see a lot of tracks and it wouldn't get to stale.

Re: Alono Vs Raikkonnen 2005
Just to point out that had Kimi pitted he would have come out about 5th place. I think anybody in Kimis position would have taken a risk and tried to win that race. If he pitted on the last lap perhaps. But surely if he pitted with enough laps to spare, his pace that weekend coupled with his brand ...

Re: Alono Vs Raikkonnen 2005
Was Alonso that much faster a driver than Kimi in 2005? Each won 7 races, FA got 5 second places, KR three; FA three thirds, KR two. FA six poles, KR five; KR 11 fastest laps, FA two. Or was it really mostly down to the McLaren car advantage? I wouldn’t say “better,” but Alonso’s style worked bette...

Re: Alono Vs Raikkonnen 2005
A bit off topic, I cant remember which year it was (i think 2004), but i think Kimi's best year was when he only won 1 race in the whole season but fought for the world championship till the very last race with Schumi. Now that was clearly a case of fighting for the championship in a slower car - I...

Also, out of all the different forms of motorsports, not a single one that I'm aware of has such kinds of ridiculously draconian rules for backmarkers. Have you stopped to consider why that might be the case? Perhaps because F1 is faster than the others? Perhaps because the F1 tracks don’t have mul...

Not sure if many would agree, but Ralf Schumachers performance in the Williams in 1999 was pretty impressive all season long. 4 retirements only and all race finishes in the points bar Hungary. Re: Have drivers stopped pushing post traction control era?
I was watching a few videos from late 90s through 2005 and i observed that drivers used to just throw the car into the corners and it used to sort itself out, well at least the good ones did. It requires a lot of guts to have such blind faith and push it to those limits. Now in contrast, I was watc...

Re: A sensible discussion about Blue Flags
I remember back in the late 90s (when we did have blue flags) back markers would not jump out of the way nearly as quickly. They would usually wait for a straight, move of the racing line and just blend off the throttle slightly. I much preferred that than the system we seem to have at the moment wh...

I can't see Alonso accepting Button as a team mate unless it's with him as a clear number one and Button as the number 2. Agreed. I'm not even a Raikkonen fan but to me, he is clearly the most mentally tough. He doesn't seem too phased by big moments in my opinion. I think it's sort of a by product of his personality.
