Re: The 100 Greatest of All Time (Update)

Considering that Mikey is heavily weighting achievement and legacy (equally or higher than pure ability) on his list, I think it's hard to make a case for Prost any lower than he is. He's the fourth or fifth most successful driver ever depending on how you look at it, and will be remembered forever...

Re: F1 Gossip/Rumour/Inside news Thread

I'm going to say I think this may be leading to Gene Selling to Andretti which accomplishes 2 things… 1. Andretti no longer has to pay the RIDICULOUS entry fee 2. The Greedy Whiny Committee doesn't have to split the pot with an 11th team As for what Steiner said, I believe he stated the team was HIS...

Re: The 100 Greatest of All Time (Update)

If Kubica was only a little bit better than Heidfeld, is it really fair to say that he was a better driver than the likes of Webber, or did he simply look better circumstantially? I find him very hard to judge. A Heidfeld level driver who had only 1 career win technically shouldn’t be rated that hi...

Re: Red Bull Budget Cap Groundhog Day Thread

So what it comes down to is that Red Bull might have overspent on car development, but there is no evidence at all that the team did. Yes, I can see why that makes a strong case for the calls the Red Bull should have been punished more harshly. The reasonable argument in favor of a harsh penalty fo...

Re: The best season performance from any driver

I have no problem in saying the RB19/Verstappen combo is probably the most complete team and driver effort in F1 history. Been so little weakness shown. It's been so dominant, I don't really know where to rank it in the GOAT seasons other than saying it is up there. Other cars have had bigger pace ...

Re: The best season performance from any driver

To talk up Verstappens would be my guess. The reason why I scoff at the notion that the RB19 has a bigger advantage than Mercedes cars of the past did is not because I feel some urge to talk up Verstappen, but because it’s not true. It really is that simple, none of the numbers support this opinion...

GM/Cadillac no longer just an engine badge. They've committed to building their own engine. Given that engine rebadging has been a thing for decades in F1 now, I don't see why anyone, much less Horner and Co. would take issue, especially given "Their" engine is literally a 100% rebadged Honda. The supplier is irrelevant basically. Pirelli produce tyres that do things FOM/FIA want them to do. If they were asked to produce tyres that could last a whole race flat out they could do that. It would likely be a lot easier. As someone who’s owned many sets of Pirelli tires, I highly doubt that. ...

No, the FIA created a lot of restrictions around testing with current generation cars and with the proliferation of tracks it becomes impossible to test the tyres on every track and every corner/curb combination around. This is also interesting. Apparently the problems were known well in advance. h...
