Re: Ross the boss. Good or bad?

Just in the process of reading Brawn and Parr's book about F1 and strategy. A very good read, that I'd recommend, by the way. In it, he's very clear that he loved the engineering, loved the strategy, loved managing but hated the politics and believes it's worse now. There's some poking of Ecclestone...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread

This sounds odd, but I think subconsciously Lewis lacks self-confidence - which is why he's always trying to justify why he lost. I'm not only thinking about this WDC title, but also tweeting car telemetry a few seasons ago to justify Button beating him (in quali IIRC). Hamilton doesn't lack self c...

Button for a season ??? How good would that be? Alonso would be bashing his own head against the nearest brick wall. I predict that Alosno will move, the Merc will not be competitive next season and Hamilton will replace Button who had come out of retirement at McLaren just in time for Honda to com...

Re: Which was the most dominant car in history

I don't think this is even debatable, but being debatable, there are many stats that prove that the Mercedes is the most dominant car ever in any era of F1. I don't have any but I've read a lot about it lately. It's a no-brainer. And that, gentlemen, gives you the entire crux of this pointless thre...

Even the Premier League realises that they need plurality of viewing options. Add to this that F1 is much, much more dependent on both advertisers and blokes with tea towels on their heads who want to promote their sand infested back yard and you can be certain Sky won't be the only way forward. Re: The Mystery Team Swap At Mercedes???

Let's put this in perspective shall we? At the absolute pinacle of automotive engineering, it's ridiculously easy for a mechanic to put the kybosh on a car. A couple of years ago Rosberg didn't get off the grid because of a "bit of dirt" in the steering wheel connection. Lewis also had an engine fir...

We need to stick with the corporate pandering to oligarhs and blokes with tea towels on their heads. Everyone knows it's the most improtant thing on a driver's mind. No need for drivers to maximise recon time, it just helps avoid first lap major carnage which would spoil the show. And forget the com...

I'm no fan of Vettel. I fully expected him to kick off when the hybrid engines came in and Mercedes became dominant, ending his run of right place, right time, Uncle Helmut engineered entitlement. To his credit, he didn't. Even when Ricciardo wiped the floor with him. Instead he went to Ferrari, got...

I suspect Rosberg will get a WDC. If not this year then before Mercedes supremacy is overturned. Compare with previous times. You mis-read the timing and actual events to a good degree. Honda had piled money into F1 and in typical Japanese corporate fashion, acheived nothing. Its a cool design, but I'd say its very inspired on the Red Bull X1 prototype. In that it has a wheel at each corner, you are absolutely correct. The ultimate limit is set by maximum fuel flow and the amount of juice they can haul around with them. Having all that spare equipment removes any concern about reliability though and it means that in the latter stages of the rsason there's no need to worry about nursing a power unit.

There's absolutely no logic in swapping only PU bits instead of all the lot. It would do no harm to the Mercedes brand. However, we have t...

My point is that you can have whatever tyres you want. They are just an artificial creation, designed to make "the show" marginally less predicatable. No fan of Alonso, but I do sympathise with his view. Cars, tyres, run off areas instead of grass, ugly aero - they're all irrelevant compared with the fuel limit. If they had unlimited fuel and unlimited flow they could drive the nuts off a car and do multi-stops for tyres when they turn to canvas. ...

Is there a source that confirms Mansell's claim that Ferrari gave Prost Mansell's car?
