Max, Lando and Charles
Lewis put in a very good drive carving up through the field, but had to do it because of his own error.

Re: Who are the BEST QUALIFIERS on the grid?
I am confused by the almost unanimous conclusion here that Max is the best qualifier on the grid. He has a total of 4 pole positions after 120 entries. He also has ten wins which says to me that that his race day performance is more than twice as good as his qualifying performance. Max did not take...

If the pecking order remains the same as in 2020, I would expect Vettel to come 5th in the standings. Maybe 6th as McLaren have a stronger driver now. Yep, Danny will come fifth this season. Seb, Freddy, Lando, Charlie, & Carlos will fight it out for positions in the bottom half of the top ten.

Williams to beat Haas in the WCC Second time this has been mooted, I guess we would be looking at the Haas drivers? For the same reason that a lot of world politicians caught Covid early on, racing drivers are also more likely to be exposed to the virus. The key is how many people you are exposed to in the course of a day and how many precautions you take. Even if you cut out all of the "meet and greets" that an ...

I am going to predict that Checo will be a much stronger team mate to Max than Alex or Pierre ever were. I am not sure that Checo will beat Max on merit but he should be close enough to take full advantage of any missteps by Max.

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread
Whether Hamilton will ever tell us how confident he was in signing for Mercedes remains to be seen, but it does seem to have been much lower-risk than Ricciardo's, or JV's or Emmo's. I'd regard Hamilton's decision to move to Mercedes as a lower risk version of Schumacher's move to Ferrari. Mercedes...

We all believe (mostly) Bottas is as good as Perez. A good car too makes a difference as it showcases the qualities of a driver (Russell in Sakhir). I don't really know. Max had five retirements in 2020. Some were mechanical and some were driving mistakes. When he was running at the end he had one sixth place finish and the rest were podiums. I think it will be very hard for Checo to beat Max on anything like a consistent basis. I will guess tha...

If Lewis can get back to his pre-covid-19 form by March 21, I don't see anyone out there who will have much for him. Aside from his post-covid funk in Abu Dhabi I don't see him showing any significant signs of slipping. RBR's pairing of Max & Checo could be a potent combination and could cause the M...

I am hoping for another round of this battle next year. For me it's a toss up between George and Max. I think a lot depends on who has the better car for the new regs at the start of 2022. On the theory that RBR will make up most of the performance gap to Mercedes I will go with Max. I don't expect George to win a hotly contested championship battle in h...

I do like the new tradition of the number staying with the driver. Certainly in the US in Nascar one has only to see the #3 or #43 logos to evoke the drivers who made them memorable. I would rather the driver kept the number than the team though. #44 will be long remembered as the number of Lewis Ha...
