Re: Similarities, drivers past and present
The only similarities I see between Hamilton and Senna was that they both drove for McLaren and both had yellow helmets. I think the whole 2007 debacle got people nostalgic about the whole Senna v Prost saga and started labeling both drivers as such as the sport was desperately needing a new rivalr...

Re: Lewis Hamilton 2013 Contract Thread.
Hmm, not sure that's proven. Only Ferrari seem to have a clear number one in Alonso, and arguably that's only because he's clearly been a superior driver to Massa, dominating him at almost every race. He's undoubtedly earned it. Newey has gone on record several times to say that Red Bull do not hav...

Re: Kovalainen manager summoned to Maranello
I have never been a Massa fan. I never thought him a bad driver. He did well on equal setting, even first year with Alonso arriving to the team, then something happened. And lots of people is calling Massa bad... Well you don't get that bad in just few months. Same applies to Kovalainen, he is not ...

Re: Similarities, drivers past and present
Hamilton - Senna Alonso - Prost Kubica - Panis Kimi - Mika Karthikeyan - Yoong Webber - Coulthard Okay, I'm only half-serious with some of those. I think Lewis is the closest to Senna. He races to win, and can drive the wheels off the car. I think Alonso is like Prost. He's very methodical, still in...

Re: Kovalainen manager summoned to Maranello
You don't know you are just quessing. Let's wait until they are on same machinery. Remember Kovalainen was Renault test-driver when Alonso was there. He also raced well on Renault. We'll always be guessing. Massa was known to have the ability to be blinding over a flying lap, but dreadfully inconsi...

Re: Lewis Hamilton 2013 Contract Thread.
Those semantics are lost in the discussion most times. People associate the teams with their flag, not their base of operation. I believe at one point all teams except for Ferrari were based in England, but fans and media would still associate them with their flags. PEACE.Johnston wrote:Still a British team.

Re: Alonso: "Hamilton is the only driver who can win without
Massa wasn't driving badly back then. No matter what car you have, you don't fight for the WDC if you drive badly. Ferrari won the WCC by 21 points. That was a substantial margin. More than Brawn. More than Renault during Fonso's repeat. More than Ferrari 2003. I think we can agree that those teams...

Re: Mclaren legend Ramirez on Hamilton-Button
As for the Senna/Prost : Lewis/Jenson comparison, Lewis is NO Senna and Jenson is NO Prost. There are no drivers that can compare to SEN or PRO on the grid, save for Schumacher. Complete and utter crap. Were you spouting this nonsense when Senna was spinning his car in '94, prior to his death? If a...

Alonso doesn't need a teammate that much worse than him. PEACE. Yeah, because clearly he's had superb teammates for the last four years. This year's teammate has managed to get one quarter of the points Alonso has. What a fierce pair they are. I see why Alonso is backing for his current teammate to...

Re: Lewis Hamilton 2013 Contract Thread.
Once again, Joe Saward comes correct with a torrent of bullsh*t: http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2012/09/17/driver-negotiations/ He's using the same specious line of reasoning that many in this thread are using that "McLaren offers a greater chance to win a WDC than Mercedes, so it's in his best int...

Winning isn't everything. Compensation is incredibly important. People faulting Lewis for possibly seeking more money are being ignorant. Re: Kubica in rally crash
Rally cars wreck. It's part and parcel of the deal. You need to push for pace, and sometimes you will cross the line. The cars are built strong, and most guys escape without injury. Kubica's nearly-fatal crash was completely flukish, and due largely to poor course design (the guard rail design). I d...

Re: Alonso: "Hamilton is the only driver who can win without
Even Senna needed the best car to win the WDC... I very much doubt Hamilton could do it with a car that was a notch below the competition... It was evenly matched with the Ferrari in 2008 and, if Lewis wins this year, it'll be with the best car... Alonso is close to doing it this year, but he was i...

Re: Mclaren legend Ramirez on Hamilton-Button
People will expound on those comments to fit their biases. Lewis couldn't get the new wing to work well enough in Spa, so opted for the old one. It cost him. That's how it breaks down sometimes. As far as Button being more clever, he has shown an ability to read the tire situation better in the wet....

Re: Schumacher offered 2013 contract by Mercedes
If Hammy teams with Michael, it would be my two favorite drivers on the same team again. I would be so happy. Michael could play a mentor role, as he's got tons of experience and seems to like working with young drivers now. If he's willing to take a subordinate driving role, that would be best. I'm...

It's all speculation, but Lewis hasn't signed when he predicted he would, and has appeared uncharacteristically gloomy despite showing well at the last race. It's not far-fetched to think he's on the move, and it's not a bad move. Merc makes the best engine so far. Their aero guys got it wrong this ...

Re: Alonso: "Hamilton is the only driver who can win without
Bickering aside, I'm constantly amazed at how friendly Lewis and Alonso have been over the last two seasons, given how bitter they were together at McLaren. I totally expected them to maintain a bitter rivalry, like Senna and Prost, but the waves seem to have calmed quickly between them. I'm always ...

I voted yes because both Fonso and Seb have team orders in their favor, whereas McLaren doesn't. However, I'd rather Lewis win on his own merit. He no doubt wants it the same. PEACE.

Re: Ok lewis is staying at Macca (Most likely confirmed)
He's almost certainly leaving McLaren. He's appeared subdued lately. Not even a fist pump getting pole, or winning the race. Sounded very reserved on the radio, when he's almost always been ecstatic after wins. Looked the odd man out in the McLaren team picture after the race. Whitmarsh was also lea...
