I voted for keeping the status quo on the engines. Maybe change them later, but let the rules run their course first.
To me F1 is always about the technological innovation and change throughout the year and years.
You settle on a set engine and we're going to have IndyCar or GP2.

Re: Vandoorne Signs as McLaren Reserve Driver
Well (usually) the best of the best make it to F1. Unless there is a constant turn over of drivers every single year, then you will have people sitting.
I do wish the FIA made it mandatory that the reserve and test drivers run the cars in say FP1 so they get seat time.

I'm not sure Kimi could get past Seb in the same team to win. Same goes for Fernando. But realistically with the right car all these guys could win barring being beaten by their teammate. I read that part so wrong. I was about to demand the basis for your opinion that Fernando also couldn't overcom...

I think the Mercedes and Toro Rosso are the two best bases. If TR had the funds to rival Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren or even Williams I think they would have finished ahead of their varsity team. I wouldn't argue that the STR10 may be the best chassis on the grid in terms of performance pe...

Re: Ferrari can beat Mercedes - James Allison
Why would Ferrari direct their resources to overhauling Mercedes just before the huge aero changes in 2017? Surely, it would be more sensible to funnel more development for the 2017 regulations than for the final year of the current regs. "But what we have seen through the season, and latterly part...

I think Seb would have won, but I don't think we'd be seeing anywhere near the kind of domination that Mercedes is showing. I think Kimi could legitimately have been beaten to #2 in the WDC by another team's driver.

Button sure does like to live off two successful seasons out of how many. Rosberg would beat button quite convincenly these days. It's easy to say what he's saying when he can blame the care I seriously doubt that Nico would beat Jenson quite convincingly in the same equipment. I think Jenson is mu...

Chery picking some of my points, but OK I concede. I used the gear box to illustrate money saving v driver in control v relevance to road cars. What driver skill is involved in flicking a tab when a blue light comes on, especially if there is software there to over ride a mistaken flick. My persona...

I think RBR is just desperate, quite frankly. McLaren is going to veto any Honda deal that involves another top team; Red Bull's only option is to make amends with Renault. This is what I think too. Add to this the very open way in which Red Bull was throwing Renault under the bus. I cannot see Hon...

Damned with feint praise with that last line, but the gist is about right. Yeah, but it's true. I'd love it if Indycar was as quick as F1, but unfortunately that would make them even more of deathtraps than they already are on the ovals, so I guess what can you so... Its not the V6 engine, it is the way it is set up with the recovery systems. The engine is fine, and I'm sure several builders would have units ready in short order if it was not for the gubbins. This is so specialist and expensive to make and so individual to each engine that an engine builder jus...

The WCC is nothing but a consolation prize. No one cares if their team wins the WCC but not the WDC. I remember when McLaren won the WDC and Ferrari won the WCC. No one cared. No.
To me it's car feel. Everything comes out of that. If you can't feel what the car is doing you cannot hope to correct or change things............this points towards knowing if the front is washing out, the rear is stepping out, you are at the traction or braking limits, etc.
