Re: 2018 Bahrain Grand Prix Race Thread
Attack on Vettel came too late. I’ve said it before but I think Mercedes are strategically vulnerable when the pressure is on. Governed entirely by timing screens and not what’s actually observable on track. The race was there to be won today and they dropped it.

Conclusions from Brazil 2017
1. Vettel doing what he does best. Took the lead at the first corner and, barring any surprises in the race, the win was nailed on. Probably the best driver in the field for leading from the front, but it’s telling how comfortable it becomes when Hamilton and Verstappen are out of contention, throug...

Curious that Max asks if he can overtake Hamilton due to him being a championship contender but dives down the inside of Vettel at every opportunity. Vettel has made an enemy in the wrong place in Max IMO, not that it matters now but that may well have proved decisive in the championship. I feel Ma...

So it’s been established in another thread that component switching can’t happen between cars. Might they have popped Vettel in the other car instead?

Amazes me the levels of stupidity that appear on the Internet Component and car switching has occurred many times before, sometimes without the knowledge of the driver. Therefore to label the question as 'stupidity' is naive. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you don't know f1 h...

Did they give Kimi's turbo to Vettel?
I was quite prepared to chalk this up as bad luck / coincidence that Kimi suffers a failure as soon as the car rolled out of the garage this morning, but then I watched that Ferrari engineer bumbling about the difference between the two 'separate' failures on their cars and it sounded unconvincing. ...

Re: Is Hamilton now rising to be the best of his generation?
I rate Alonso higher than Vettel and Hamilton. Hamilton and Vettel have both been prone to silly errors throughout their careers, and have also benefitted from either class of the field or top 3 cars for most seasons. Granted Alonso has made some bad decisions, but we're not assessing those here. Ve...

Rumours are that it's Alonso to Merc for one season alongside Hamilton, and Alonso will be driving for free. He doesn't need the money, and to get the best driver in the world for free is a stellar deal for an organisation questioning their continued financing of an F1 team. Also, saving them £25m g...

Merc are panicked. Car looks awful and they're not used to the pressure. No sand bagging here they are genuinely in trouble. Laura's face said it all. Damage limitation weekend and they'll need to focus on getting ahead of Kimi. Vettel is out of sight.

Congrats to Ferrari. A fantastic job done over the winter, and it's starting to feel like a Schumi-Mika slug from days gone by. Awesome for F1. Vettel is Ferrari's man. I think there might be more to come out of this - I'm curious about Rosberg's engine setting. This is fascinating. I can't wait to see where all the engines end up. I think Honda is a dead horse, and I have done for a while. Having read the interview with Eric Boullier where he said "McLaren want to win tomorrow, Honda want to win sometime", I cast my mind back a few weeks to when I read Richard Branson's autobiography. I wouldn't place the term 'bad luck' alongside anything to do with Lewis Hamilton. It is refreshing to see a Nico revival, although I fear over the season Hamilton has too much for him. 1. Wasn't the deal announced in 2013? Before we knew Merc was the best engine. 2. Moving away from Merc was the right decision if they wanted to challenge for titles at some point.
