Re: Rate the 2016 Bahrain GP

Racing in the midfield was good as usual at Bahrain when considering the past few seasons. The problem with F1 is the tire/fuel limitation gimmick that does not allow the drivers to push, and makes every race a mathematical competition between engineers crunching numbers at their pulpits. Nothing a...

It was a tabloid piece of journalism from Herbert but in an ideal world Alonso should have had a word in private. I'd hate to end up scanning media for negative comments and reacting to it. Your record should speak for itself. But we are human and if I was in Alonso's shoes I probably would have had...

Re: Sky Sports lands exclusive F1 television coverage in UK

Many of my friends (mostly in their 40's) are now availing of various methods of watching sport on mobile devices. Not one of them feels they are doing anything remotely illegal - it is there and you would be stupid not to use it and feel if it was illegal it would be stopped. It is like anything if...

Personally I felt that the previous (now current seemingly) qualifying format was boring and I had stopped tuning in. The reason for this was Mercedes domination so it mainly came down to whether it was Lewis or Nico on pole. I did not care much as Lewis is so much better that he would win most race...

To help launch the coverage Channel 4 are doing a 'Speed with Guy Martin F1 Special' on March 17th 9pm (GMT).
In it he will race David Coulthard in a red bull with a Tyco BMW motor bike.
Could be interesting.

Re: Why do so many drivers move into TV roles?

Money, simple as.
It is generally hard to adjust whatever lifestyle you are used to. Despite not needing the money it is probably alarming to see the bank balance eroding with nothing going in. Also a TV profile keeps you noticed and can continue or lead to sponsorships or adverts etc.

Alcohol companies are quite adept at targeting children as future customers. One way they do this is through sport.
Betting companies have gladly taken up the slack in some sports.

The problem is most sports desperately need sponsorship and funding.

I doubt they are over paid. I know it looks it from the outside. The ones that are getting big wages probably generate big revenue through sponsorship and media interest and exposure.
