Re: Vettel v Ricciardo 2014 watch
For me the only real evidence of who is quicker between the two in either generation of cars would be found in the young driver test at silverstone last year. Ricciardo was 3 tenths slower but on medium tyres vs Vettel on soft tyres. If only we new whether they were using the same setup, but that w...

Re: Red Bull renames A1-Ring corners
If you think any of the teams in F1 are there because for the sentimentality of it all, you are wrong. F1 is a business first and sport second. Without $$$ it ceases to exist. It is the same for any tracks, sponsors, etc. Unfortunately there is no room for sentimentality in a business model. Even Fe...

Load of crap from the FIA. Since when do drawings count as regulations!
Again, the FIA don't word their documents clearly enough but it is the team who uses their ingenuity and initiative that suffers.
Load of political BS if you ask me.

May as well be "Who is your favourite driver".
Either way, I don't care who wins. As far as I'm concerned the GPs this year are a race for 3rd, so I'd like to see either Ricciardo, Perez or Massa up there.

I believe RBR have him on a long term contract so he can't go anywhere but they can kick him to the curb whenever they want. Which is entirely reasonable considering the investment they have made.

Who cares if they re-name a corner. There are around 300+ corners on the calendar, I bet most people couldn't name 40 of them. It's been done to secure funding to make racing at the track possible, not to gherkin someone off.

Considering RBR finished 30+ seconds in front of any other car behind them without even pushing makes you kind of expect that Vettel should have gotten well up the order from 15th anyway.

It irks me that without two entirely preventable mistakes from RBR Dan would be on 69 points - well and truly leading the Group B F1 WDC. Even if the fuel flow was turned down in Melbourne and he got 4th / 5th he still would be in front. He hasn't had as much bad luck like Vettel, but these are thin...

Re: Vettel v Ricciardo 2014 watch
The problem is that people think Vettel is slow rather than Ricciardo being very quick. Don't forget that Ricciardo had the biggest average qualifying gap for any team mate to Vergne last year - a guy that many said would be the next big thing. Ricciardo is very very fast, but also Vettel is struggl...

Ten-place grid penalty for Jean-Eric Vergne for losing his wheel I hope someone will put together all the bad luck this guy had in F1 so far. I am sure it will an amazing list. This season is a foregone conclusion.
The real question is what will happen over the next 2 or 3 seasons. If Merc only win one WCC it would be a failure on their behalf given the advantage they have.

All the guys that normally look after their tyres - Vettel, Raikkonen, Perez, etc.- are stuggling. I think they need to lean more on the tyres to get more heat into them. If driver's were stocks, the driver you'd make the most money on between end of last season and now would definitely be Ricciardo.
Vettel the big loser.
Hulkenberg, Alonso and Rosberg steady.
Hamilton a high buy price but continues to rise steadily.

Re: has pirelli struck the right balance with tyres this yea
This is the first year that Pirelli have got it anywhere near "right". The rice paper tyres are gone and drivers can actually push a little bit.,, part of the reason why Vettel is struggling is because others can now race properly and not just conserve their tyres.

Re: Did Vettel Cost Ricciardo The Podium?
I've analyzed the times and it appears Vettel cost Ricciardo at least 3.2 seconds to Alonso between laps 23 and 26. That would have resulted in RIC catching Alonso around 2 laps before the early end of the race, and 4 laps before the prescribed end. Nice! Your result means Charles Pic's assessment ...

Re: Did Vettel Cost Ricciardo The Podium?
As mentioned previously, Daniel would have been voided another podium if he did pass Alonso as the chequered flag ruling would've undone all the hard work. Not if he passed Alonso before the early end of the race...which could have been possible although he might have only had 1 or 2 laps to do it.

Re: Best Driver Pairing (after 4 races)
I'm a Ricciardo fan but I have to say Mercedes has the best pairing. And while they are both experienced, fast drivers the biggest reason is that they seem to respect and push each other and the team. I doubt you would have Hamilton or Rosberg (as proven last year already) ignoring team orders like ...

So who was everyone's "Star of Qualifying"?
I'd probably go Ricciardo, but Alonso and Hulkenberg are worth a mention. It's hard to tell though when their team mates are so far behind whether there were issues with the car, or they were just that much slower.

Yes but one thing it seems that some people wish to forget is that Vergne was always quicker than Ricciardo in the wet Ricciardo out-qualified and out-raced Vergne in the wet at Brazil last year. Let's look at the facts though. Ricciardo had an average qualifying time of 1.049 second faster than Ve...

Yeah, Nico choked. He would have thrown it into the corner if he was assured of a second place, but he obviously wasn't so I think he's being disingenuous there.
Rosberg was driving just as quick as Hamilton though until he made that mistake in the final corner.

I dont think it would work, as the passing car would have used more energy to pass and the passed car would have a larger reserve left for the rest of the lap and would eat up the opposing car as they would have less energy to add to the IC's rev band for the rest of that lap. That is the idea (to ...
