You know, I read this last night and I wanted to write something in response but was literally so choked up, both from your sad loss and the fact this awesome time was your last physical interaction with your dad. I have three mongrels and I do so many things they love to do because I want to share...

The messages from everyone in this thread are of as much solace as the many we've received from friends and family over these past days. There is no theory of evolution, just a list of animals that Chuck Norris allows to live. My dad loved Chuck Norris Facts. Re: Driver speed advantages
Before F1 in the thirties (on my System) the gaps between the top drivers Chiron, Nuvolari, Varzi, Wimille, Caracciola and Rosemeyer were much the same as today between Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, etc. Moss's wide advantage in 1959-1960 was exceptional, and not matched in the F1 era.

Re: Looks like Honda sorted their Indycars (lots more HP), F
Thanks for the clarification. Sounds as if Indycars are a lot cheaper to produce and run than F1 cars. I could not believe Chevy themselves were working on race cars and engines, out of the back door as in musclecar and Chaparral days. Seems as if the Chevvy name (how many vees?) is just for marketi...

Re: Will Hülkenberg ever get a podium? - Bumped x2
I think Hulk and Perez were equal driver-rated in 2015 and 2016, and that both are under-rated. Also agree that Palmer is showing promise, but was not yet at Hulk's level as at end 2016. I voted for a podium for Hulk but of course it all depends on the Renault. Always one of my favourite teams. What...

What type of engines are permitted in Indycar Formula these days?
What configuration is the Chevy and who builds it?
Any other engine-builders apart from Chevy and Honda?
What are the power outputs?

Some very close Package times were recorded in practice for the 1963 Italian GP at Monza. The last season that any Package had as much speed advantage over its fastest rival Package as the 2015 Hamilton/Mercedes, was in 2002:the Schumacher /Ferrari was 0.5 faster than the Ralf Schumacher/Williams-BMW. All the seasons in between (2003-2014) the gaps were much closer. In 2015 the Hamilton/...

The 1961 'Sharknose' Ferrari gave its WDC driver Phil Hill the greatest car advantage of all: it was 0.7 faster than the next fastest rival car, the Cooper-Climax Type 55. This compares to the 0.4 to 0.5 advantages by the 2014-2016 Mercedes over its next-fastest rival cars. In 1992 the Williams-Rena...

So sad for John Surtees that his son Henry died in that racing accident recently. Jabouille in 1980 could be considered an underdog. His incredible record of 23 retirements with 2 wins in 1979 and 1980! One reason for the recent decades' WDCs having the highest percentage of fatsest packages is the 'evening up' of circuit length and type. Until the 70s the circuit variation was huge: from Monaco's 3.3 km to the Nurburg's 23km lap, Spa's 13km, Monza's 10km with the bankings and the road circuit comb...

My driver-rating for Kimi in 2012 also showed he did leave a couple of tenths on the table driving the Lotus.
