Re: Renault considering F1 future
Renault taking over the Lotus team potentially opens up the driver market, you would have though Pastor will not stay into next year which potentially opens up quite an attractive ride with factory backing from Renault.

But then you have the same problem STR have, 2 unmeasured drivers. Hamilton gets a free pass for his poor year (guessing your talking about 2011?), does he? I don't think he does at all. Also, Seb didn't even win a race in 2014 despite his team-mate (who had never even won a race before the year) won three Hamilton managed to win 3 races in 2011, the same amount a...

Why Button? He has a contract already. Hulk is a the best option, he has speed and experience with the potential to win a title in the right car, without being tied down to a big team contract. McLaren have an option on Jenson, and two Young drivers that Ron Dennis rates very highly. I think Jenson...

Re: 2015 Austrian Grand Prix Qualifying and Race Thread
I usually try to see the good in every race, but today I had enough. I'm really sick of seeing the winner decided at the first corner 90% of the time. Sure the racing down the field is somewhat entertaining, but I'd rather not have the world championship decided by who can get to the first corner fi...

Re: Red Bull say they WILL quit F1 if Audi don't enter...
This is a genuine question... aside from the costs trickling down to the smaller teams in terms of the cost of buying the engine what is the problem with opening up the Development? If controlling costs is the only reason the Manufacturers are not allowed to openly develop the engines, why not put a...

Re: So is this season really more exciting than last?
For the most part I agree, but the bolded part... I think the declining attendance and viewing figures during that period might disagree slightly. Schumacher won 69 (42%) races he started 1997-2006. Hamilton has won 15 (44%) races since Hungary 2013. The audience started to tumble after 2002 so F1 ...

Re: So is this season really more exciting than last?
I don't really understand this. We've had six excellent seasons in the last 10 years: 2006-2010 and 2012. Formula One fans have had it really good. Just because two teams have dominated since late 2013 doesn't mean the sport is in crisis. Nobody batted an eyelid in 1990-2005's when things were argu...

Re: When will everyone realize McLaren's wearing no clothes?
It's really very simple... McLaren have had a horrible start to the season, the Power Unit is terrible and the Chassis remains a mystery because of how bad the PU is. Boullier, Dennis and Co. have been telling us that things are going to get better for the last year and so far they have gone only ba...

This is a very similar argument that has been happening for years about pay drivers. It ultimately boils down to the reason that a team signs a driver, if it's anything other than talent related it is always going to cause debate. Ultimately do the likes of Susie Wolff and Carmen Jorda deserve to be...

Average. We saw a few youngsters perform pretty well, and Sauber pleasantly surprised me. What struck me during the race, is that the false "solution" DRS is now not even a solution anymore. Time for a solid rethink about aerodynamics; those front wings laugh in our faces. 8O Pretty much agree. Bru...

A one race deal. Or, more likely, a one set of practice and qualifying sessions deal. They have more chance of finishing the race than McLaren at this point. I think he was hinting at the risk of Manor not being able to qualify for the race (107% rule). I don't think there's that big a risk tbh. I ...
