Re: Caterham, what are you doing?
Allow me to try and pull this thread out of the dark hole it's been rammed inito. A while after I posted saying it could be the spec for hotter events the same point was made by a few journos on twitter. They were talking about the Caterham specifically, so either their hot weather spec is much bigg...

Re: Vettel/Red Bull-Reanult's 2011 superiority exaggerated
As many in the know have said, RBR's 2010 car actually had a bigger performance advantage than the 2011 car. There was an interesting piece in F1 Racing (or maybe Motor Sport... or maybe even Autosport, I forget now) looking at the stats for various dominant cars of recent decades. It demonstrated w...

Off-topic, but every time I see these 'What If?' threads it reminds me of the 'What if a dinosaur ate Alonso?' pic on the old forum    If ANYONE can find that pic it would make my day. Is it this one? http://randomperspective.com/images/thumbs/dinosaur-eat-alonso.jpg I blame Hamilton.

Re: Red Bull to run non-modified car
If this turns out to be true it's very reassuring for everyone else. Whatever RBR stick on the car seems to make it go faster, would be nice to see a chink in their development armour for once.

Yes, Chandhok was excellent. If they made the decision not to use him it's a big gamble.Robbo-92 wrote:Why didn't they get Chandok? His mind seems like an encyclopaedia of F1 knowledge, always was great listening to him on free practice sessions as he really does know his stuff

Re: Manual gearbox
I think there is a good argument for re-introducing manual 'boxes as they do promote driver skill and introduce the driver error and reliability issues which could be good for the show. When we look back at the overtaking of the 70's & 80's a lot of it resulted from missed gears. That classic Arnox...

To me he seems like the most charmless driver since Scott Speed. Shame Maurice Hamilton won't be doing it.

Re: Average lap times from winter testing. Guess who`s faste
I think it's fair to say that from what we've seen in the tests, especially long runs, the varying statements from Par Fry, and many of the drivers's, it's pretty OK to assume that the Ferrari is not 9 tenths of a second faster than the RBR so in this context, the times are meaningless. Yep, it jus...

Re: Manual gearbox
A semi-automatic sequential box means faster gear changes, simple as that. You don't need to take your hand off the wheel and the actual shift happens in a split second.

On topic, Canada 2007. A chaotic race, 4 safety car periods (a record at the time) and successfully holding Alonso off, all in his debut season.

Think it's Mclaren hands down. Do you think the authorities will react to the criticism of the stepped noses and change the regs for future seasons or do you think they'll be around for a while? Why have you grouped Caterham, HRT and Marussia as one? I can see that some people might want to vote fo...

I'm already cringing at the anticapted Clarkson introduction.
Nick Mason (original Pink Floyd member and serious petrolhead) has just said he's ready to accept the offer the BBC make every year and will also be doing it soon.

Very hard to argue with the OP. For me only 2 or 3 of those guys are as good as the best of today, but the depth of talent is absolutely awesome, that's the key for me. Whoever you think the weakest 78 driver on that list is, none of them would slot into the 2012 heirarchy lower than the bottom of t...
