Re: Gascoyne: Kovalainen should have shown more respect
I've read about the upgrades before, this being 2009 i believe when McLaren were playing catch up, there was only 1 or 2 races were their cars were different, one upgrade had to be delayed because it involved the drivers changing their driving techique to make it work which Heikki had more trouble ...

Re: Gascoyne: Kovalainen should have shown more respect
He was getting the poorer strategy in qualifying because in the races he was so poor, whenever he was in a good position after qualifying he would invariable fall away in the race, McLaren got rid of him simply because he wasn't good enough When you are starting off on heavier fuel than those aroun...

Re: Which drivers would beat Vettel as a teammate in Redbull
Or that might have something to do with the car, i believe at one point the Bulls had a system of getting heat quickly into the tyres? Yip that was with the EBD. But then why can't Webber do the same ;) Even if the car is doing trick stuff you have to have the confidence to use it. Remember the fir...

Re: Which drivers would beat Vettel as a teammate in Redbull
I don't think any would. Maybe alonso playing the long game over a season by being more consistant. But given that any of them would quali close on the grid. One of Vettels main skills is those first few laps. Somewhere and some how he gets more confidence and a better feel for the car with the ful...

Re: Which drivers would beat Vettel as a teammate in Redbull
If there would be only Red Bull in the grid Vettel would win even easier. That car is so damn slow at straight and fast in hands of driver that it suites it would be even easier to Vettel win everything. Don't get me wrong but Vettel is now quite impossible to win. Developement as a driver is huge ...

Re: Which drivers would beat Vettel as a teammate in Redbull
Vettel's advantage over Webber increases as the exhaust aided downforce increases so to answer a question with a question, "Which other drivers perform well in a car with a firmly planted rear end?" A driver who likes a sharp front end and does not mind a bit of twitch at the back is probably not g...

Re: Which drivers would beat Vettel as a teammate in Redbull
Just Alonso. The guy who beat Alonso when a rookie can't beat Vettel, but Alonso who lost to the guy can, very strange and flawed Logic. 5 years have passed. Some drivers get better some get worse. Things don't stay the same. Drivers get better, its only advancing years when they start to fall off,...

Re: Gascoyne: Kovalainen should have shown more respect
The bottom line is that Heikki wasn't prepared to find sponsorship just so he could drive around at the back of the grid, this is the disrespect part of it i believe, another part of it is that he's no better then many of the pay drivers now present on the grid, a very good qualifier but overall not...

Kovi said somewhere a while back that he wouldn't pay unless their were certain assurances. It was basically every year Caterham say they will be good for points and they are not. Seb is a 3X WDC, so has proven himself to be a v good driver. Possibly one of the best ever, only time will tell. Meanwhile, the other current 'top' generation of drivers (Alonso/Lewis/Kimi) have to prove that they are his equal - as they have less WDCs to their name. Drivers' fans can come up with...

Hang on! Hulkenberg hasnt won a race yet, he has had an oppurtunity and blown it. Vettel had a chance to win at Monza 08 and took it. You cant count your chickens before they hatch.
