Re: Mercedes vs Red Bull - 2021
Pirelli gifted Hamilton a free win in Baku, but Lewis himself had other ideas. :) From memory was it not Perez that lines up on poll and you're talking rubbish yet again in terms of handed out wins and it was nothing like this weekend? Perez couldn’t even weave to heat up his tyres on the formation...

Re: Who's been the better teammate in helping Max/Lewis to become WDC
I think Bottas had a better season than Perez - he scored more points than Checo given cars that seemed very evenly matched. However thinking specifically of the drivers' title, Bottas wasn't nearly as useful to Hamilton as Perez was to Verstappen.

The Monza situation from this question (the driver ahead in the championship is to blame for a crash that eliminates both cars) is the reason the FIA were warning about point deduction penalities ahead of Abu Dhabi.SlipstreamF1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 4:31 pmMonza due to the crash. I'd probably try to rehire Bottas or make a bid for Gasly (who Red Bull clearly don't want but can't justify getting rid of). If Hamilton pits and Max doesn't then honestly no one has a clue what will happen. Reason being we have seen Masi makes the rules up as he goes along, for what it's worth and we all have an opinion I don't think he makes the same decision if positions are reversed but that's just my opinion. Re: Which would have been the most controversial last race of the season?
I think Silverstone. Hamilton takes Verstappen out in an incident where he is primarily at fault, but due to the red flag he caused he is able to fully repair his car and rejoin the race, eventually winning despite a slap on the wrist penalty? I don't see what could be much worse than that, tbh. Sp...

I voted Silverstone, Real Abu Dhabi, and Spa. Real Abu Dhabi and Spa were both cases of one driver getting points directly from race control making odd decisions. The optics of the scenario at Spa would have been very similar to Abu Dhabi - one driver being handed the title by some fairly arbitrary ...

I don't buy the general conspiracy against Hamilton at all. He could easily have been penalised for the lap 1 incident, and the specific situation that played out also required a late safety car, so the theory would also need Latifi to be in on the plot. I think Masi just had an idea to engineer a d...

I don't think it would be right to change the outcome of the championship. Masi is the referee, and he made a decision. A terrible decision, but a decision nonetheless. However, this should be the trigger for a major shake-up in how the races are managed and officiated.

I don't buy the 'Max is so dangerous that he has to retire' angle at all. But I do wonder, if Lewis wins title number eight, what there is still to do for him in F1. He's done 15 seasons and (assuming he wins the title) will have won the WDC in over half of them, has had no bad injuries, and he's ne...

Mercedes has been the better car by a hefty margin since Silverstone. I wouldn't call it 2020 level dominance, but easily at 2019 level dominance. Abu Dhabi is not a circuit where anything happens. The run-off areas are vast, no chance of rain, smooth tarmac, and the two DRS zones make it very easy...

I don't expect Max to do anything really blatant, and Lewis has very little incentive to take risks in close quarters. What would not surprise me is another of Max's divebomb or swerving-on-the-straight moves that happens to result in contact. Then we go to the stewards and the forums ignite :/
