Its a done deal by the sounds of it.
They already have a chassis that is very close to Mercedes, this could be very interesting indeed.

Re: Franz Tost rates the Red Bull junior program drivers
This is a total non issue. Having seen the lists source, its not even clear if Tost was trying to rate them in a specific order, or if he was just talking about the drivers. Its unclear if he sat down and tried to write a list, or just mentioned the drivers he's worked with in an interview. Its uncl...

Re: Ferrari confirm Kimi to partner Seb in 2016
Does anyone else think the plan really was to replace Kimi with Bottas, but that Bottas falling backwards into Massa's clutches this season scuppered the plan and caused a rethink at Maranello? They know how Kimi and Massa compare, and I think they know that a driver who's being matched by Massa is...

Re: Franz Tost rates the Red Bull junior program drivers
Tost thinking they might ultimately have more potential than Ricciardo is not the same as him saying he thinks Ricciardo is poor or even that they are all better than him this year. He just might see something in the other drivers that marks them out and he sees a lot we don't get to see. I don't g...

Re: Franz Tost rates the Red Bull junior program drivers
One thing to keep in mind is that the original article was in German. The actual quote is: " Er ist unglaublich feinfühlig ". While sensitive is a translation of "feinfühlig", I think it is meant as a positive quality of him whereas "sensitive" in English tends to be negative when it comes to car f...

Re: Franz Tost rates the Red Bull junior program drivers
I'm also unconvinced that Kvyat has looked better than Ricciardo this year, either. Well, he isn't giving a ranking of "driver performances in 2015". :) Then hard to understand what exactly he is rating. Because Vergne looked quite a bit stronger than Kvyat last year, yet he doesn't even feature on...

Re: Franz Tost rates the Red Bull junior program drivers
Potential vs Performance is an interesting matter of debate. Vettel and Kvyat rated are #1 and #2, while Ricciardo is down in 5th despite beating both; yet Tost is convinced that both Vettel and Kvyat have a higher performance ceiling than Ricciardo does. I also found it interesting that Tost says ...

Re: Franz Tost rates the Red Bull junior program drivers
Seems quite a strange ranking considering the drivers rated 1st and 2nd have both looked worse than the driver ranked 5th. Is he talking about what he perceives as their current ability, or what their ability was when driving for Toro Rosso? Because that would make slightly more sense, but even then...

Re: Ricco is a late braking GOD!
Which category would you put Maldonado in? Moderate? I think he is very aggressive and while he combined poor judgment with it in the past, he has looked better this season. But I wasn't referring to matching levels of talent, just the driving style per those 3 categories. Thats probably fair, but ...

I think it is evident that they are both very talented, but rating the aggression-to-incident ratio is tough until Dan has the opportunity to show his stuff in the coming years. No, I don't support teams, only drivers. It may seem I am a Ferrari fan at present, but it is only because they seat two of my three fav drivers. So for now, Forza Ferrari. If I was forced to pick a team at gunpoint, it would be RBR as I admire what they have done and the way they went about it. Bu...

Re: Ricco is a late braking GOD!
I don't see the significance of that. Qualifying on the 2nd or 3rd row would mean passing a couple of cars each race (assuming he generally couldn't catch P1 and/or P2). So that doesn't explain why he was needing to do all that passing. I don't really agree he's had to do all that much passing. Ham...

But the only way that move would have worked is if he would have got the car stopped in the vicinity of the apex. He didn't, therefore it was a mistake. Well, he was a lot closer to Rosberg accelerating towards T2 than he would have been if he hadn't tried it, which means he did gain on Rosberg by ...

Zoue, I was peaking of his On-Track passing ability as a whole, not his superiority over teammates. The payoff started as soon as he pitted. From then on it was him with the fresher tyres. Why can you just not say "OK, that statement was wrong, I should have worded it differently"? Come on man, this is getting a bit absurd. "Longer" is an adverb for comparing time (or distance, if you will). Ricciardo had run on newer tires for "longer". 100% fact and you're still going to argue about that. And Ricciardo was collecting the benefit of fresher tyres from the moment he stopped. ...

I'm not pushing anything off-topic. I'm responding to what you have brought to the table. Now, either my brain is seriously toying with me or your maths are a bit off and it was Ricciardo having had the benefit of fresher tyres for longer than Ricciardo. Re: Team Mate Battles - Hungarian GP
Why take "prior to the actual safety car" as measure? As I said, a VSC can have drastic impact on the gaps. So prior to the VSC the gap was 40 seconds with Kvyat having stopped twice and Ricciardo once. That's the real measure, anything that happened during VSC and/or SC was not representative of p...

Re: Team Mate Battles - Hungarian GP
It's pretty rare for team mates to do the exact same length stints on tyres. It's pretty common for team mates to have them come in on consecutive laps though. This is not just "not exactly the same length", this is effectively switching strategy. Maybe they started out on the same strategy but tha...

I'm not confused about anything. Look, this is starting to turn into a discussion about semantics, and I'm not getting into that. Anything up to 5th in the WCC is still very possible, they're only 22 points behind Force India in 5th which is nothing at all. But it will depend how big the Honda engine upgrades are in the second half. If the rumors of 50hp are true that seems very possible.

Mathematically Vettel can do it. Realistically, Ferrari would have to demonstrate the dominance over the rest of the field, including MB, that MB has demonstrated over the field over the past two years. Ferrari have a fast car, and under 2 race wins isn't really that big of a gap, 2 non finishes ar...

As a big Ricciardo fan, I don't really think he's deserving of top 3 so far this season. Hungary was an entertaining race. But it was 'great' in the same sense of Indycar. It was just chaotic. However, I wouldn't say I was especially connected to the race. Because it didn't feel like there was that much on the line. Ultimately Vettel won, but I do't think he has any real hope of the tit...
