Re: Ideas on how to avoid a repeat of Spa 2021?
The main issue is the spray pattern created by the tyre as they clear water. The wet weather tyre is providing sufficient grip but generating too much spray in a way that cars behind cant see a thing. Pirelli need to urgently look into this and come up with a wet weather tyre with a better spray pa...

The fact is that you can't do anything to counter heavy rain, its nature, you can however, plan and have contingencies for it though. Simply allow for an extra day and cancel stating this contingency on the ticket and take out insurance to cover that eventuality financially. What was inexcusable was...

In what amounts to an admission they got it wrong Formula 1 is to make rule changes to prevent a recurrence of the events surrounding the controversial abandonment of the Belgian Grand Prix. At least they recognised they got it wrong so I guess thats a good thing. Lets hope the changes are sensible.

Why cancel the race any earlier, what exactly does that give you? That is the point though, the race wasn't cancelled, it was just turned into a pretend race instead. My point is they didn't need to negotiate anything, they just needed to recognise that the race had to be cancelled . It also means if the same circumstances occur elsewhere at other circuits you CAN NOT cancel as a precedent has been set. Sets up the prospect of a farcical repeat. Just weak officiating and administration by all those concerned.

I think what we are seeing is that it's ridiculous to include accident damage in budget caps. I do understand this but it would surely just lead teams to pushing the rules on what counts as accident damage and how much each accident costs. What's stopping a team saying that accident cost us $1milli...

Regardless, they only use a few drops to test fuel so I have never understood the rule for requiring 1 full liter. It's dumb. I suspect its about dilution. If you are looking for additives 1 drop from 10ml would be 100 times the concentration of 1 drop from 1 Litre. A bigger sample makes evaporation...

A great article by Gary Anderson: https://the-race.com/formula-1/gary-anderson-why-red-bulls-flexi-wing-arguments-make-sense/ If I read this correctly, the deflection limit applies to all relevant parts - including the front wing - and, based on observations, Merc may just be shooting itself in the...

What I found interesting from Toto's Sky interview was the comment about the front wing. As a reminder he said that the Mercedes front wing and the Red Bull front wing flex the same amount. He further stated that they might protest each other. So Red Bull have a front and rear "Limbo wing" package. ...

Have to agree, when the only real excitement in the race is when a pit crew can't get a wheel off its a bit dire. Perez was miles faster than Land who had no tyres but still couldn't pass despite 12 laps of trying.

The rear wings are also monitored by cameras which let's the stewards know if the load tests are actually fit for purpose, in this instance seeing how much the rear wings are flexing on some cars they have realised that's not the case so a new test is to be introduced after the next race. So why are the cameras there then if not to ensure there is no deflection? Why are the FIA implementing a rule change mid June then? The aim is to prevent variable aerodynamics. Only sort of though. Its simply how you measure the the "literal, objective technical objectives". The camera is there to observe the result, the law says it shouldn't flex under race conditions, the guide is an at rest measurement thats too low. If the teams complied with the criteria of the camera...
