Re: Honda podium in 1st Redbull race so were McLaren the pro

Could be this engine swapping is a pretty tricky thing as this was the consensus best chassis last year but they seem to have lost 8ths to 1s against the top two so far this year. There was the regulation change to consider as well and their in-season development is usually insane and I also doubt ...

The data would be telling them how strong the PU was so it would be clear that any speed deficiencies would be in the chassis. There would be nowhere for ...

They'd have certainly had a better chance to which is about all we can say. They'd have known in 2015 exactly where they stood chassis-wise, the good parts of the car would perform better with more power and I assume they wouldn't have lost so many sponsors, including their two biggest sponsors in ...

But the engineers would also have known just how good (or bad) the Honda PU was. The data can't lie in that respect. It's inconceivable to me that they would have been able to fudge those figures and that would move the needle into fraud territory rather than incompetence, which is a whole other ba...

Re: Honda podium in 1st Redbull race so were McLaren the pro

Given that independent experts were saying that the McLaren chassis was pretty good in 2017, I'll beg to differ. But it's not really relevant whether they were top or midfield, tbh. The thread is about who were the problem and it's pretty indisputable that Honda were terrible. Think about it. As so...

In 2017 it wasn't just McLaren who said they had a good car, as has been pointed out above. In 2018 they had to make too many compromises for the new engine and they botched it. He can win with Renault with time needed to develop the car as it is a works team. However it can turn into never unless Renault make some serious restructure with management like McLaren has done. Cyril is too stuck on political fights with other teams rather than focusing on Renault itself.

There's nothing really dishonest about either of those things though so there's no real need for the bee in the bonnet though. One thing I will say is that I believe that Honda will eventually surpass Ferrari and Mercedes in terms of engine performance. This is a lot like the 80s Turbo era to me. Of course McLaren were the problem. That is why they went for a restructure. You don't do that if you were making race winning chasis and get it wrong once. They realized it last year that they were always and midfield and made a change in management which is good. I am sure they can rebuild from th...

Not so sure they passed Renault. It's only been one race. The whole point of a flexing wing is that it changes its angle of attack to give less drag on the straights and more downforce in corners. In the video the Mercedes wing is not doing that, it is wobbling from side to side which from my understanding gives no aerodynamic benefit. Nothing to see here...
