Seems I've overestimated him, but also I underrated Leclerc because he is outstanding and has developed into a simply terrific and increasingly complete racer.

Re: 2022 British Grand Prix Race Thread
How the hell is Leclerc doing it, wow Taking nothing away from him but I don't think the Softs are working very well at all.You would expect the guys on Softs to breeze past but they don't seem to have much more grip than him. Yes but still demonstrably the slower tyre. Awesome racecraft from Lecle...

I really feel for Leclerc this season so far. He's absolutely elite, but the results haven't quite come as they could've.

Re: 2022 British Grand Prix Race Thread
Looked like Hamilton could have gone on 5 more laps with a lead of about 15 seconds before pitting for soft tyres and had a large performance advantage over the Ferraris. But hey, what do I know.
(Maybe more like 13 seconds getting through backmarkers, but still.)

Re: 2022 British Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Russell has messed up in qualifying about 3 times this year. Not sure he's quite as consistent in this area as some thought. How did he mess up, being less than 2 tenths behind Lewis? Well, I don't think that car was bad enough to be P8. I maybe was too influenced by the drivers positions and the f...

Re: 2022 British Grand Prix Free Practice & Qualifying Thread
Max had mad pace, so it's kinda amazing to me that he somehow found a way to not bag this pole. Sainz needed this one so grats to the man under the cosh. Not that surprising, he was pushing more than most, great when you get it right but ofc higher chance of error Yeh but he had quite a few laps to...

Re: Ferrari vs. Red Bull - 2022
I guess there’s also a question here about faster car vs better car to have. Bit like Ferrari vs Mercedes in Italy 2019. If it was a time trial then Mercedes was better, but because it’s a race, Ferrari’s straight line speed meant that might have been a better car to have. So, was the Ferrari maybe...

Re: 2022 Canadian Grand Prix Race Thread
Yeh the Merc is shaping up as a fine racing car and should be a threat in a couple of races for wins with a bit a luck. Who knows, they might even have a race where they could win on merit of their race pace. I expect them to keep getting hammered in qualifying, though.

Re: 2022 Canadian Grand Prix Race Thread
Champions drive by Max at the end there! 12 months ago he was going wheel to wheel with Lewis almost every race - You can see how that has made unbeatable now. No offense to Carlos, but Max had him covered. Swap the cars though and does Sainz have a far better shot at it? It feels to me like Ferrar...

Re: 2022 Canadian Grand Prix Race Thread
The mental gymnastics continues. Do you have any reasonable counter or are you stuck? The comparable performance you talk about. We've seen Max and Sainz in the same car. What was the gap? We've seen Sainz beat Norris whose putting more of a gap on Riciardo than Max did. What is the comparative per...

Was solid but I don't think he had to do that much to keep his lead. He never had to fend off one real attack on the lead. He was consistent and delivered, I'll give him that of course.Vicky_balboa wrote: ↑Sun Jun 19, 2022 7:41 pmMax did brilliantly towards the end, showed great composure

Re: 2022 Canadian Grand Prix Race Thread
I mean even you can surely see Max isn't worried in the slightest and Leclerc can't make inroads on the Merc? This is calm and comfortable. Red Bull have easily been the better car this weekend. In qualifying Sainz struggled to find rhythm though. He found performance at the end before mucking up h...

:-P Can't imagine a 6 lap differential on tyre age will be significant enough in the end. Should be a very interesting demonstration of how good the Red Bull package is. Sainz not performing under pressure yet again, this season is really telling a lot about him 🤣 I've always said Sainz is a bottler. Perez continues to annihilate all the Verstappen superlatives and silence the driving god superlatives quietly. Lol and you base this from 2 quails where he is known to excel? You do know Max is leading the WDC - has 4 wins and should be 36 points further up the road.. I will wait for Perez to have...

Yep I feel like Hamilton was undermined by McLaren, who were hoodwinked by Button's charisma during a time when both were 'just' 1x WDCs. Button was a false prophet.

Sainz determined not to help Leclerc much this season eh. I mean, what do? Surely he tumbles down the grid...
