Re: Your hopes for 2015

What are your hopes for 2015 - what do you want to see? This may sound strange coming from a Hamilton fan but I'd like to see McLaren and Red Bull close the gap to 0.2-0.3 seconds. If Hamilton wants to win title #3 I want him to win it against Daniel Riccardo and Fernando Alonso with competitive ma...

Re: Hamilton, Rosberg & Button

I have heard that repeated a lot.. Do you really think so? When they both finished in 2011, it was 7-7. When they both finished in 2012, it was 9-2 to Hamilton When they both finsiehd in 2010, it was 10-3 to Hamilton This set of statistics prove that while Button had a great year, Hamilton seemed f...

Re: Hamilton 10th most successful driver of all time now

I think that Lewis has cemented his legacy and thrown off the 'next Villeneuve' tag attributed to him since 2008 (although I thought that his performance in 2012 debunked that). The second title and weight of Grand Prix wins and poles has solidified his spot in the top 20 of all time. Hamilton is cu...

Re: Hamilton, Rosberg & Button

I've been glued to F1 since 2011 and been a Hamilton supporter that entire time. I've experienced Hamilton at his worst and he outclassed Button in 2012 by the same margin that Button outclassed him in 2011. Hamilton was so consistently quick that season and the racing gods, Maldonado, Grosjean, Hul...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread

HAHAHA....Is Lewis the next Villeaneuve? Won't hear that any more. Who was the last driver to win a championship - 6 years after his first? Funnily enough the last F1 driver to win the title after a 6+ year gap was Niki Lauda between his 2nd (1977) and 3rd titles (1984)! If you're looking for an ex...

Re: How does Lewis approach tomorrow's race?

I think he'll approach it simply. If his chariot blows up, it blows up. Lewis curses the racing gods and moves on. He'll then follow Rosberg and build a gap to the Williams and Red Bulls. Hamilton maintains a 1-2 second gap and stalks Rosberg waiting for him to make a mistake while leading. If he tr...

How much is Nico benefiting from Lewis' telemetry data?

A major theme I've noticed this season is the cat and mouse battles in practice sessions and qualifying. In most of the Grand Prix, Hamilton would set the earlier FP1 and FP2 pace only to be overhauled in FP3 and Q3. Rosberg has beaten Hamilton convincingly over one lap this season. However, would t...

Re: 2014 Brazilian GP Race Thread

Rosberg Vettel Bottas Lewis dnf's and all of a sudden nico is favourite. We then see nico take lewis out at Abu Dhabi What a sadistic prediction! It would certainly make the season unforgettable... However, it isn't 1990 anymore. If Rosberg takes Hamilton out at Abu Double it would be difficult not...

Mercedes Conundrum if Rosberg is WDC...

Project Mercedes finally bore fruit this season with a WCC and WDC double. It's been clear from the start that Mercedes are in F1 to build a legacy and win championships regularly. If they want to sustain a period of dominance then they need to ideally have a number 1 driver who has the team's backi...

What does Hamilton have to do to become an all time great?

Lewis Hamilton has a somewhat mixed reputation. Bright start, consistent (but average) middle and bright peak again. I believe that his career since the 2008 Glock intervention has also been plagued by some awful luck, some bad strategy and some big errors. However, people don't really remember the ...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread

I think everybody is worrying too much. While Hamilton was weak at Brazil and Abu Dhabi last year in a substandard car, in the 2012 McLaren he got pole and was leading at both tracks before Hulk crashed into him (Brazil 2012) and his car broke down (Abu Dhabi 2012)! Congrats on equalling ol' Nige's ...

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread

I posted a thread earlier in the year speculating how many races Hamilton would win in his career. I predicted that he would reach about 34 before he retired. I never expected him to win 8 races THIS YEAR!

Can Hamilton emulate or overtake Senna's 41 wins and 65 pole positions?

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread

Excellent display today and I hope the car is good enough so that he can fight for victory when qualifying doesn't go his way. I'm happy with Hamilton getting multiple Grand Chelems this year but I'd prefer if he qualified 4th/5th a few times and fought his way to 1st place. That is the Hammy we all...

Just thought I'd add that he didn't. Hamilton regained the lead from Hulk and crossed the line in 1st place every lap. It doesn't matter if someone leads for a part of one lap, he didn't cross the line.

Re: The Official Lewis Hamilton thread

I don't know what Lewis has been doing recently but he seems to have been suffering terrible luck when it comes to reliability since his calamitous 2011 season.

What does the man have to do to get a car that works?

Most retirements from pole position

With Hamilton suffering more calamitous reliability problems (probably the Lowe effect) it made me think about drivers that have retired from pole position.

Does Hamilton hold the record for the most?

Will Hamilton win the most races of any British driver?

I am having doubts about Lewis' potential to win another world title after Sunday's miserable performance and Vettel's form. I know that while he has a good car he can win races so how many do people think he's realistically going to win in the next 5 years? I believe he can win 32 races sooner if h...

Re: Alonso must be saying "Where's my reliable old point sys

Yeap. The new points system was brought in after 2008 where Hamilton won the Title, even though technically, Massa had more wins. I say technically because Hamilton lost a win and Massa gained a win over the whole Spa incident. That didn't seem right so they decided to change it to a system which i...

2014 Aero Change and Mercedes

What does the dropping of 2014 Aero changes mean for Mercedes? Will they have to be content with mid-field for the 2013-2016 period? What will their development timetable be now they have been denied a blanker canvas in 2014? Will they have to push for the whole season in 2013 with the advantages fo...

I suspect the pay off will be long term as well - with the changing regulations and the works engine deal with Mercedes (and the unknown future of McLaren's engine provider) - he's set for a few World Championships. Honestly? I don't think McLaren will be replaced as a top team by Mercedes without ...

Predictions - Hamilton & Mercedes

I'd like to hear your prediction of the number of wins/poles/podiums that you reasonably expect from Hamilton in 2013. My guess: 2 wins, 2 poles, 8 podiums. I'm writing off 2013 as a development season for Mercedes and my choice of wins and poles are what i expect to make up for his retirements from...

I don't know why but I really think Mercedes are really going to go for it next year, I think they started the car development very early and got a great kick up the backside when they realized they have gotten Lewis driving next year. I'm really hoping that Lewis can claim wins 22, 23 and 24 that ...

Hello all, another UK F1 fan here.

I've been following F1 casually since 2008 and avidly since 2010. I'm the Hamilton fan in a family of Button fans.
