Re: Why is Hamilton always "cruising"?
No, he doesn't imply that he is toying with the rest of the field. In fact, he does the opposite. In more than 3/4th of his race wins, he claims to have had the best race of his career. That always makes me chuckle. I think he is consciously trying to stop himself saying that lately as I have seen ...

Re: Better qualifier - Kobayashi or Button?
Shocked to see the difference between Button and Hamilton is just 0.1. I expected it to cross 0.2 easily. I am tempted to say that 0.8 in Spa was down to the wing but Button has done well overall and credit is due. Your original instinct was correct. I forgot to discount the races where they cannot...

Re: New DRS rules for FP & Q for 2013
I always wondered why they were allowed to use DRS freely in practise & qualy and now I know. I'm not sure I agree with CW's reasoning that teams wouldn't have bothered to develop it much if it was restricted, as most teams go to ridiculous lengths for the smallest gains anyway. Generally a good cha...

Put some stats on a spreadhseet to compare Button and Kobayashi with their teammates. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dominic1/times.jpg If you try to judge on how close they are to their respective team mates then Kobi wins hands down, but I think Hamilton is skewing the result against Button as he is...

Red Bull Raikkonen, Hulkenburg - Would be great to see Kimi in a a top car again (no offence Enstone) and I'd like to see Hukenburg given a shot in a top car also. Think this would be a very solid team. McLaren Alonso, Button - For some reason I'd like to see Alonso have another go at McLaren, and ...

Re: Nascar Sprint Cup mayhem.
Being a huge NASCAR fan, Gordon and Bowyer have had several on-track incidents this year, most of which ended up with Gordon getting the worst end of the deal. He was just fed up, but clearly overreacted. NASCAR race control then butchered the finish because they left the green flag out with a bunc...

No and he does not have the type of personality to build a team the way Schumacher did in his heyday. How do you know? Re: McLaren's nightmare season in a nutshell
In a word disastrous, considering the general pace of the car. I would be hesitant however to lay all the blame at MW's door as the failures appear to me to be pretty much team wide, with the possible exception of the drivers. MW may get the blame for Hamilton's departure, but who's to say he wouldn...

Re: Time to end the myth of drivers ability to develop cars?
I think the telemetry tells the story now, it's not unheard of for a driver to say the car feels awful then set a fast lap , didn't Jenson do something on that line this year? I think so. Seem to remember him saying at Spa that his car felt bad about 30 seconds before going fastest by about 0.5 sec...

There's a reason why Alonso, Hamilton, Vettel, Kimi and Button rarely if ever drive into each other. I believe it's called the championship. It's because they're amongst the best. Some of the attempted overtakes at Abu Dhabi were amateurish at best. Compare them with Vettel's pass on Button, which ...

Re: When can Hamilton return to McLaren?
I wouldn't be surprised to see Merc join the upper echelons of the sport in a few years No doubt, but how many actual years is a "few" years? The way F1 is competitive now, it could take Merc longer than Hamilton's F1 lifespan to match McLaren, Ferrari & RBR. And don't forget that those teams will ...

Odd no one has picked up onthis yet. We made Lewis an offer - an offer, which I believe is more money than any other driver at the moment is being paid. That leads us to suspect that our competitor and our partner Mercedes-Benz offered a bit more money. I don’t know that , but I think for Lewis mad...

Re: Whitmarsh: Hamilton 'regrets' move to Mercedes
I'm really struggling to understand MW's motive for saying some of these things, particularly; ""I hope he thinks today that he's made an awful mistake and I hope he thinks that next year. He's made that decision and he has to live with that decision." That just comes across as incredibly bitter and...

What makes a world class F1 pilot different than the rest? About 2-3 tenths of a second per lap I'd say. That may seem trite, but it really is those last couple of tenths and the ability to find them consistently that separates the great from the good. Of course the golden question is how do they f...

I genuinely have no idea how these guys manage to do what they do. The fitness and concentration required is staggering. Hell, my heads spinning after a 50% race distance Monaco race in F1 2012 and I doubt that even represents 1000th of a percent the effort required to do it for real.

Re: Has anyone thought Hamilton might have been crowned a WD
It goes without saying that all teams suffer failures and errors throughout a season, however the interesting point for me is that a top team has managed to throw away approximately 100 points for a single driver through operational errors and mechanical failures. That is an astonishing figure howev...
