Re: 2015 Austrian Grand Prix Qualifying and Race Thread
Alonso said before the race they'd take it as testing, I guess he meant it quite literally. One car oddly in the wall and less than 10 laps between both cars.

In F3 Lance Stroll is banned from race 3 for taking out the top 3 in race 2. After his flying practice at Monza you wonder how long he'll be in the Ferrari driver academy.
Holy something something is there a lot of terrible driving in F3 this weekend. Unbelievable.

Very good race 1 at Spa in Formula 3 this morning. Constant fighting for the podium places and a few guys coming through from some way back to finish top 5. Also late race drama between the leaders.
And a great GP 2 race too.
Horrifying race 2 at Spa though, scary airborne crash into Les Combes.

The poll question should be What's better late or early race, I get confused when the poll question isn't the direct opposite of the thread title. That said, I wish all races started a few hours before lunch, and 6AM is no problem with me either. Sometimes it's nice to have dinner and watch the race...

So I thought the when will McLaren get on the scoreboard thread was lots of fun, and there's only one way to go now that they got there. Down the toilet. Nah, up, of course! I find the rules strange, when they red-flag a race 2 minutes from reaching the maximum allowed time (of ~40 minutes?), but because they've managed less than 75% of the laps it's not considered 3/4s. I guess you could argue the other way, too, though. Is it the same if they finish the race due to ti...

The only positive I'll take from this is the combination of refueling and free tire choice, which might actually open the door for some clever or chancy tire choices from different teams. Do you bring the super softs and hope for a late SC and a glorious low fuel stint the last 5 laps, or some other...

He wanted to move up after -13, he was interviewed by a low profile Swedish TV show about mid-season when he was a title contender, and he lamented his lack of sponsorship. Story of F3 so far this year, field is probably a bit weaker than last year, but it's a bit early to call. It's a big field though. 35 starters. I believe they can do it in Spain, but I'm voting for Monaco because I believe that's the very latest they'll do it due to the nature of that race, and there are still a fair bunch of teams who are outperforming them convincingly still ie RBR, STR, Sauber from the looks of it, probably Lotus on pace...

I don't think the token system is great. If a team is way behind in aero there's nothing arbitrarily stopping them from catching up but when it happens to be the engine there suddenly is. I had this poorly thought-through idea about how they could assign more or less engine tokens each year dependin...
