Re: JEV vs Ricciardo

Whether or not Dan is up to be promoted I think it's pretty clear JEV isn't. Consistently being thrashed by ten places by your team-mate in quali is not good enough for Red Bull. Not dealing with the pressure of quali very well, unfortunately.

Re: JEV vs Ricciardo

Sure it wasn't Red Bull v Sauber, but it's fair to say it was Red Bull v Lotus. It really isn't. RBR and Lotus have way different cars AND crew. FR3.5 teams just have different crew. Not saying Ricciardo necessarily did worse than Vergne, merely objecting to a comparison between F1 teams. It doesn'...

Re: JEV vs Ricciardo

Head to head Dan is winning I'm pretty sure. I calculated their average finishing position the other day (excluding retirements) and it was RIC 11.88 and JEV is 11.62. So basically bang equal if you consider there has been some bad luck and good luck etc in there for both parties I'm sure.

Re: JEV vs Ricciardo

How can you compare Dan in WSR 3.5 in 2011 to JEV? Dan missed 4 races (Red Bull duty then later driving for HRT) and when he was driving in a team that was inferior that year. Sure it wasn't Red Bull v Sauber, but it's fair to say it was Red Bull v Lotus. In differentiating the teams it's not just s...

Yes Webber ignored the "maintain a 3 second gap" order initially and got a bit close to the back of Seb but he never really tried to press the matter too hard and appeared to drop back after "proving his point". No. Webber clearly stated afterwards that he wanted to pass, and he just couldn't pull ...

Seb's overtake in Malaysia '13 was (in my book) extremely bad - but other posters made me realise that I was feeling sorry for Mark even though he had previously behaved just as badly. Re: Vettel: most hated driver??

And Webber was at a venue he considers a "home-race" in Silverstone 2011, which makes it easier to understand why he would push the point. Can you imagine Horner imposing team-orders on Vettel in Germany when they were fighting for the minor podium places? I don't think so. It wasn't for the win, ei...

Not impossible either. I rate the two STRs guys above the Force India guys. With the tyres changing Force India's chances may be diminishing anyway.

I would be very surprised if Ricciardo went, as far as I can see if Red Bull want a strong driver they will go with either Button or Kimi, im inclined to say Kimi would be their first choice but who knows. if they want a number 2 driver a Torro Rosso driver would be the ideal. However why go for th...

I've noticed the way Ricciardo does always seem to bounce back, as Mark says. I think this ability to handle a bad result is something you really need in a top car. He handles pressure well. As for whether it helps or hinders...well it won't help with Marko, but maybe Mark has had a word with the bi...

Why on earth would Kimi go to McLaren? He's currently with a more competitive team who have cultivated an environment he likes to work with. I thought it was odd that Horner specifically ruled him out, when there hadn't been much mention of it. Re: Mark, you've made us proud...

Webber and Horner have very, very little to do with the GP3 team. It's run by Horner's father with some input from Ann Neil, Mark's partner. I think Webber and Horner did have a good relationship when the entity was created, years ago. But things between them have been fairly strained since mid-2010.

His pace today was really good when in clean air. At one point he was the third fastest car behind only Vettel and Rosberg. As for Tost using the run out of tyres excuse for why they left Dan out, perhaps this an argument for not wasting a set in Q1 as they always seem to do. Given their pace this w...

I suspect Red Bull already have offered Kimi a contract, and he is deciding whether it is worth it to stay at Lotus or not.

I haven't seen anything on Autosport about Ricciardo being the favourite? Not sure where that came from. Doesn't really make any sense with Vergne being on top at the moment.

I think that Ricciardo might be the better of the two (in the dry) but I'd be really surprised if they've locked it in yet. If they're going with a junior why not give them until the end of the season to duke it out? JEV is currently on top. Kimi makes more sense IMO. Or Hulkenberg. I recall Marko e...

Vergne is surely the favourite between the STR guys at the moment. Ricciardo needs to turn things around pretty quickly.
