Re: Average pre F1, excellent in F1
Button only won the British formula Ford title before F1, remember they had to change the rules so as he could get a super license. He had shown to be a bit of a special talent though, and that promise eventually shone out in F1. He took a while to find his feet, and made some, in hindsight, questio...

Re: Official Cycling Thread
Well my summer tyres did about 2000 miles with 2 punctures. Then I fitted winter tyres and got my first puncture after 8 miles. It's just one of those things. When you have some cash I'd recommend a Lezyne pump. mine cost about £25 which is not cheap but it's amazing. Light and small which is alway...

Re: Average pre F1, excellent in F1
The problem is that to get a shot in F1 you can't be crap, no matter what a lot of people like to think, particularly with the lack of testing these days, you have to have shown potential at least. Quite simply you wouldn't get your super license otherwise. Anyway, a few that could fit the bill... K...

Unfortunately, at the moment it does seem likely that they'll be out of F1 once the new engine regs come on stream. But, so long as they're able to secure their future as purveyor of high-end tuned, and race engines, they'll surely be back as some point or another, they're so intrinsically linked to...

Obviously it's very sad that she's killed herself, but the outrage about the prank itself is outrageous, even prince Charles when asked, before the suicide, said he thought it was quite funny, and wasn't that bothered about it. In light of my previous, 10 puncture, nightmare I got myself some new tyres and inner tubes, and, as it's a bit Baltic at the moment, some cycling tights too. Lovely stats, nice work indeed, plenty good enough for the, "sometimes a bit like a ghost town", "in depth" part of the forum. Anyway, certainly backs up the main thing I'd noticed from the starts (and probably something the world and his wife had noticed), that the Ferraris have conspicuously good ...

1986, Adelaide. Although I was very young at the time the sight of Mansels tyre exploding and him trying to keep it out of the armco, whilst in a position to win the title was by far the most exciting thing my little brain had ever witnessed. Suffice to say I was hooked.

The Top Gear example doesn't really do them justice, unless you think about it. Because the limits of the Liana's capabilities are so very low, "mere mortals" can also reach them relatively easily, yet still the fastest of a hole bunch of "normal" people is 2.7 seconds slower than Vettel. That's a l...

Re: Which driver was a humble WDC champion?
Seeing as we don't know them, all we can do is go by how they come across in and are portrayed in the media, and various accounts of those that knew them. Even then we cannot be sure. The course of history seems to have put most WDCs from the past in rather a good light, but you'd assume that there ...

10 punctures! 10! But, to take it further, I'll give you an example too, light board at marshals' post is flashing yellow, however, marshal at the post is showing green flag. Track is green. Read ashley's reply. They never "contradict" each other. If you see a light board/flag that is yellow, you slow down till you see a green light board/flag and then you're free to race. They are completely equivalent but two separate systems. To give you a different example, consider three points on...

As has been mentioned, they have no "aversion" to German drivers, and have indeed tried to sign a couple over the years, but, again, as has been mentioned, before Schumacher came along there weren't any. He inspired a generation of young drivers and sponsors, and now there's thousands of 'em.

Re: Seems like Vettel did pass someone under flashing yellow
Flags do not supersede light boards. Light boards are equivalent to flags. Hence, the first green (manual or light board) is the moment they can start racing, which is what Vettel did perfectly. Dash lights are not in the regulations so they don't count. About slowing and holding up drivers under y...
