Re: What are your 2018 Mid-Season driver rankings?

I myself in the past have often agreed with the rankings on F1 Fanatic, now known as Racefans. I do agree with a lot again this year, but some IMO are well off. Rankings 1 - 5: https://www.racefans.net/2018/08/17/2018-mid-season-f1-driver-rankings-part-3/#comment-3840630 Rankings 6 - 12: https://ww...

Re: Sainz Jr's McLaren teammate 2019

I think Vandoorne has had a good chance to show what he has got and has confirmed to me that he is Button level which is still very good but not leading edge. I would like to see Norris in the seat to see how he compares against Sainz otherwise Ocon. If Norris does not get an F1 seat I would like t...

Re: McLaren drivers 2019

I voted for Sainz and Vandoorne, which is what I think they'll have. Sainz is a driver with some references, so he'll provide a good final assessment of Vandoorne. If he beats Vandoorne, Stoffel is out. Also, if Stoffel beats Sainz, Sainz is out. Norris will be in the car in 2020 regardless. The St...

Now Max will have to be the leader and I don't think he is up to it. Will he be fast - absolutely Will he be Wise enough - doubtful. But daddy will be there to coach him and that's when Max messes up. I'm hoping Renault really come through and get in the top mix. If they can get close Dan has the r...

Re: Silly Season 2019

I think Alonso will stay with McLaren but spread over F1 and Indy. McLaren just may be the right company fit for Alonso now if they diversify as expected into Indy. Re: Silly Season 2019

The return to flaky rubber would be an awful backwards step. F1 should be the pinnacle of motorsport, but drivers tiptoeing around 8 seconds off of qualifying pace is the exact opposite of that. I know tyre management is a skill in itself, but it isn't what the best drivers in the world should have...

He will pick up some podiums and maybe even 3 wins over the 2 seasons. He will go to Ferrari at the end of his contract unless Renault end up producing a WDC winning car. He probably would have done if he had stayed at Red Bull, doubtful he will do that in the Renault. A lot depends on that Honda e...

I'm going to cast the first vote, and put my own opinion down outside the starting post so that people can vote without reading my opinion if they so choose. Indirectly Hulkenberg's performance against Ricciardo could make or break Perez. I think Perez is already in serious danger after the beating he's received from Ocon so far this year. If it keeps up, his already fragile chances at a top seat are finished. I would say they've been pretty close to ev...

Re: Who's under more pressure next year, Hulk or Ricciardo?

I have a gut feeling that Red Bull will struggle next year with their new Honda engines. This will leave the possibility of Renault being the 3rd best team. Renault have not been the best in strategy calls and tend to favour one driver. Red Bull have suffered from reliability issues and so far this ...

Who's to say that Red Bull and Honda won't work next season, the same as McLaren were. Honda have had reliability issues with their power units. I'm quite a fan of Alonso, but over the past few years McLaren have been no where at all. Fighting for a mid-field positions is not in Fernando's character.
