Re: 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Race Thread

Have I missed something here but what exactly are Red Bull seeing the stewards about? This mess was nothing to do with them and they aren't the ones appealing anything. It affects their driver - they should have a right to know what's going on and, presumably, provide their own input. It affects th...

Merc have had the fastest race car, comfortably, since Brazil. Lewis has basically got this in the bag, he just needs to keep calm and manage his tyres.

Lewis and Max both get booed at most tracks they visit. They seem to both have acquired some rather partisan supporters.

Re: Who wins the 2021 WDC

It's rarified air today. You could make a case that this is the first true one on one straight fight, winner takes it all decider between the two best drivers of the time since Japan 1998. I think that wouldn’t really count because in theory Mika could have followed Michael home in second and still...

Hamilton, Alonso and Vettel could all potentially call it a day after next season. Of the others who may lose their seat, I don't know how much money Albon is bringing to Williams but that could be an option.

Re: Red Flag/Safety Car Tyre Changes

Norris changed his tires too during the safety car. The red flag on this circuit was inevitable. He should be blaming McLaren strategists. For the record RB got it wrong too. Changing to mediums under the RF was a huge mistake. His tires were gone after 14 laps. Why did RB think new mediums could l...

Re: Red Flag/Safety Car Tyre Changes

Two chains of thought here: 1- You should be allowed to change tyres under RF but when the race resumes it’s in the order before the SC or VSC which preceded the race being stopped, I.e. the last racing lap. 2 - you can only change tyres if an independent Pirelli expert agrees that it’s necessary on...

No. Simply put. The track is not fit for purpose. The governing body is not fit for purpose. The kid is a danger to himself and others. Everything combined to give the race we watched yesterday as the worst gp in history and this was a low point and a embarrassment to the sport. Spa called, they wa...

I think a couple of factors went in his favour there. Firstly they weren’t going THAT fast relative to the top speed of those cars. Re: Saudi was an exciting/eventful race, but was it a *good* race?

I thought the track and the way the event was run was a complete farce, not far off USA 2005 levels of ineptitude. The circuit was barely ready on time and paperwork was still being signed off as the teams were setting up in their garages. The F2 events were perhaps worse than the F1 with the featur...

Anyone else think the circuit just isn't right for F1, or F2 for that matter? I'm all for challenging circuits, but every single issue causes either a safety car or vsc. This season is starting to resemble 2000 and 2003 to be honest, whereby things look close and even all the way through, then come the end of the season the familiar face just comes along and blitzes it. I can’t see anything other than two comfortable Lewis wins and an 8th WDC.
