Re: The Official silly questions thread.

New Question It's said that part of the reason the noise of the new engines is because they are revving so low compared to the V8's. Why can we not increase the revs on the V6 Turbos? Would they simply generate to much power? I was thinking that myself, and see no flaw in the idea. Higher revs= hig...

Re: Just a thought

Nurb 24 hours track? I know it would take 7 minutes or so, but I don't think you could make a circuit of 300km. Also, what's this about cutting down forests for the purpose of a race track. The environment would always be more important than racing.

Re: 2014 Austrian GP Practice and Qualifying Thread

A bit off topic, but the Red Bull ring was just released (this past wednesday) for Gran Turismo 6, in a DLC update. It looks and feels incredibly good and realistic, and the track surface is far, far from being new... kind of slipperly in those uphill right-handers, and feels like it lacks grip. ht...

I think C. Horner said that they altered a few corners, I'm not sure, though.

Did anyone see the Rolex ad during the Le Mans 24hours on Eurosport? They showed a '14 Williams on board, but actually changed the sound to the old 2013 sound. Is that how bad people think it is? I don't think it deserves a change to the old noise tbh.

Re: The Official silly questions thread.

About Mercedes and Ferrari doing sparking floors this weekend, wouldn't that hinder their pace? Ai'd say they would only lose minor time, but, with all that heat, sound and light energy converted from the kinetic energy, would it not lose them some amount of time?

Re: The Official silly questions thread.

I have a philosophy in sport in that one could get interested in any sport, apart from cricket, of course, if they decided to watch it and follow a particular team/athlete. Although, one cannot suddenly gain interest in it, although F1 is an exception to this (started watching it in 2012 and was imm...

There are more spectacles in a few games of football than in a season of F1. Wouldn't it be safer if they wore contacts instead? What's clear is that anyone who finds a lot of men in shorts wandering about a field for three hours a greater spectacle than the mere sight of an F1 car needs their eyes...

The times would be more spread out. Take this scenario of two drivers going around a bend at 100mph, and then a bend at 50mph. If one of the drivers misses both apexes (apie?!) by 50cm and the other to hit them, then the time lost in the first bend would be less than the time lost in the second bend...

It's interesting that 99% of the time a driver gets credited for putting in a good lap when it counts – through the pit-stops to gain the advantage. Could it be the same result as China, though? The track seems to have long straights and a few high speed turns, with some very low speed corners as well. I can't see Ferrari doing well here, but I said the same thing before China and Alonso finished on the podium.

Flying for me is a ghastly experience: the warm air, hot, cramped and smelly toilets. I would not be able to take the continual moving around, not in one's own home, little quiet time to do other things. Wonder why I'm not on any team's driver shopping list? Yeah, that's what I hate about flying. I...

Has anyone kept on the inside line in Canada before? We saw Nico do it through qualifying this year, but I don't remember seeing it before. It makes sense, but if the teams at the back were competitive enough to trade lower points finishes between them (so we have the likes of Torr Rosso, Sauber, Marussia and Caterham at similar levels), they would all be in a much better way financially. Re: Caterham set to miss Austria?

I don't get it, though. Once, or if, Caterham find themselves to be a middle team, there will be a different team at the back struggling for finance. We'll never have every team being financially stable because there will always be that team at the back that, well, is at the back. I'm not sure if I'...

Call me crazy, but as much as it might be more thrilling watching faster cars, I'd prefer an extra few minutes of racing instead. Other motorsports might be closing in, but you'd have to take in the law of marginal returns as well.
