I think it's a great idea to have an experienced ex-F1 engineer on board to explain the technical side of things. Previously the BBC and ITV left this to Martin Brundle and although he did a decent enough job of it, I think it'll be much better to have someone who really understands the finer detail...

Agree with the comments about Chandhok, he was excellent on 5 live last year. Incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic and comes across as a really genuinely nice bloke, as well as having some great banter with Crofty. I can only assume he didn't want to do it on a regular basis.

What a load of guff that was. Actually made me cringe. And you're surprised? Sky's sports coverage is full of over-the-top, sensationalist, cringeworthy nonsense. Re: How about 15 teams and proper qualy again?
I like the qualifying format as it is now, though I would like to see the tyre restrictions removed - I hate it when three of four of the cars in Q3 never leave the garage so that they can save tyres - and Q1 would be better if the teams at the back were more competitiive. Pre-2010 it was quite good...

I'd strongly recommend getting general admission - you get a free choice of where to stand (basically anwhere where there isn't a grandstand) and for Friday practice you get access to any grandstand you want as it much less busy that day. Last year I sat at the start/finish straight for Practice 1 a...

Good to see that it actually exists. Not a massive fan of the paint job, but it would look much better with some sponsors on it. My biggest concern is that it looks very basic aerodynamically - the front wing seems to have come from the 1990s. I worry that with all the reshuffling going on behind th...

Surely Silverstone 2008 is a no-brainer. He was utterly peerless that day, and as far as I'm concerned it's up there with any of the great wet-weather performances in history. Martin Brundle is not one to sensationalise things but even he described it as one of the top three drives he has ever comme...

Im my opinion, no he would not have won a championship. If his performances for BAR in 2003 and 2004 weren't going to convince a big team to sign him up then a few more years in the midfield for Williams weren't going to either. When the big teams look to sign a new driver they tend to go for an est...

Honestly? I don't even know. I've been told that when I was a toddler, I loved cars. Playing with toy cars, watching them, going in them, whatever. Even at that time I would watch F1, although obviously I had very little comprehension of what it all meant, besides it involving cars going fast! As I...

As much as I agree that Valencia is terrible they're not going to get a replacement for this year if the race doesn't go ahead. I'd rather have the Valencia GP than a gap in the calendar, though admittedly not by much.jimmyj wrote:I won't miss it. I'd rather they do another better venue.

It's hard to take these pundits seriously when they tip Lotus and Force India to do well. This is testing, not qualifying or racing. I think the OP is overreacting a little. If you look back over the years, you never get one team dominating for more than a few years at a time. It all comes in cycles; Red Bull have been well and truly on top for the past 2 years but I can't see this lasting in the long term. The others will catch ...

Honestly I don't know. Yes he jumped straight into a seat at a top team, but not as the number 1 driver. At the start of 2007, McLaren knew that they had the world's best driver, so they were willing to take a gamble on a rookie as his number 2. The fact that Lewis then unsettled Alonso by performin...
