You could also put it like this: Alonso had to fight other top teams and drivers on the same tyre, whereas Schumacher did not have to.
;-)
Renault was the fastest Michelin car all season.

Re: Schumacher's 2006 vs Hamilton's 2021

There was also the tyre war issue of other Michelin teams at Michelin favoured tracks that meant Schumacher was losing or fighting for points with other M cars like McLarens, BMWs and Hondas to finish best of the rest. Whereas at "Bridgestone tracks", the Renault was always faster than the next non...

Re: Schumacher's 2006 vs Hamilton's 2021

One big factor that never gets mentioned about gauging Schumacher's 2006 performance was the backstage politics at Ferrari that Schumacher was ultimately the losing party of. It was just as much a factor as 2007 was for Alonso or 2020 was for Vettel. If it did affect his performance or mistakes then...

Re: Schumacher's 2006 vs Hamilton's 2021

2) Schumacher actually had to fight to make up a deficit on Alonso. The momentum shifted from Renault to Ferrari after the 9th round in Canada and at that point. Schumacher was 25 points back ( about 62 in modern money. He managed to halve that gap even with horrendous luck at the end of the season...

Hamilton leaving the inside open at Imola and Spain was just poor racecraft. Nothing else to add. You see this all the time with Hamilton, a failure to properly cover the inside line. You can even go back to Malaysia 2017, one of the very first ever duels between Max and Lewis. You're yet to attemp...

And what I've noticed is that the death rate from the flu is higher than from covid. Well that's not true. The death rate for COVID is magnitudes higher. Interesting fact: Australia hasn't had any flu deaths in over a year. That shows the restrictions have worked and that COVID is significantly mor...

What is apparent by now is that Max is a hot head - He's been around for a long time now and this is no longer something he might grow out of, this is a character trait. What annoyed me most is he was trying to drive off of Lewis's car while Lewis was still in his and I could see Max's wheel turning...
