Re: Future of the Spanish Grand Prix
Whether the referendum was legal or not, is ultimately irrelevant. We don't know which course the Catalan politicians will choose for future action. And I believe the FIA have already considered this issue; I doubt Spain would do what Switzerland once did and organise their national GP in France, o...

Ricciardo on the market for 2019, RBR will not renew contract with him. http://www.planetf1.com/news/marko-red-bull-looking-for-ricciardo-alternatives/ I don't believe it said that, it said they have to look for alternative drivers in case Ricciardo leaves. It does confirm that Verstappen is contra...

Re: K-Mag: Dangerous, unsporting or simply misunderstood?
I think it is unfair of Alonso to use the "we all think he's wrong"-argument. I'm pretty sure they didn't have a vote between the 19 of them - it's a bullish statement. Didn't he pretty much do the same with Palmer in Monza? alonso is regarded as one of the best, kmag is more or less a nobody (comp...

I watched the Vettel-Alonso-Button-Magnussen duel from Spa 2014 on YouTube last week and I felt Magnussen's driving that day left a lot to be desired.

I'd take the 90% with a big pinch of salt. The only people who would vote yesterday are those that care. Turn out was 30% and multiple votes also happened. I live in Scotland, and if our government called an unbundling referendum the separatists would win Precisely. In an unofficial referendum peop...

Re: Did they give Kimi's turbo to Vettel?
Did Vettel take an entire new engine this race? Engine 5? It is also possible they could have taken Kimi's parts and made them part of Vettels new engine number 5 which I assume he took. This would only occur if they had a huge shortage of parts. Its unlikely but possible. I've asked this on the ra...

From Vettel's onboard the initial impression I got was that Vettel was far too close to Stroll and could have left him far more room, which I think is why the C4 guys were swift to blame Vettel.

I think it would be as fair to say that Hamilton would not be leading the championship without Vettel's poor fortune as it was to say Rosberg would not be a WDC without Hamilton's poor fortune. There honestly is no comparison. I think there is. Bottom line is some bad luck is severely affecting a t...

From this angle ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ80ZLmhoFs ), it looks like Stroll was going to go offline to pick-up marbles and also possibly giving way to the McLaren behind him. Apparently he did not see that Vettel also came up behind him and was in the process of overtaking. What a brain c...

The interesting thing is what comes next. Will Max stay at Red bull or will he leave? It seems to me like the Renault power plant is really coming good of late and Red Bull have finally closed up to Ferrari and Mercedes a bit over these last few weekends. It wouldn't be a shock if they had one or b...

Vettel should be happy, this result was 1pt better than finishing second behind Hamilton. From last on the grid he couldn't have wished for much more. When the number of engine components each driver is allowed to use is strictly regulated, no they didn't just 'give' Kimi's turbo to Vettel.

For the title race, it'll be interesting to see if Red Bull have narrowed the gap to Mercedes to the same relative extent as last year, where the lead Red Bull often finished ahead of the 2nd Mercedes.
That's not good news for Vettel if so.

There's a reason he's only on a 1 year deal. He's doing the job adequately at the moment - picking up enough points to win the WCC, whilst also not challenging Hamilton which helps with the team dynamic. I've said before that I think he's keeping the seat warm for Ocon to take over in 2019.

One issue that doesn't help is the circuits. A lot of the Tilke circuits are far too similar which means different aspects of the car don't get tested. So you don't really get weekends where one particular car suddenly becomes competitive because the circuit suits them better (think Fisichella takin...
